Location: Chinle, Arizona
Location details: Chinle is a center of Navajo culture and gateway to the awe-inspiring Canyon de Chelly National Monument. This close-knit community offers a unique blend of natural beauty, cultural immersion and proximity to Telluride, CO which is the #1 rated ski resort in the U.S. by USA Today. Flagstaff, a vibrant city with museums, restaurants, and a lively atmosphere, is also a 3-hour drive away.
Time Commitment: 40 hours per week on a Monday-Friday, 8am-5pm schedule
Start Date: June – July 2024 (flexible depending on the Optometrist’s availability)

Minimum Qualifications:

· Current and unrestricted license to practice as a Optometrist in any US state, DC, or Puerto Rico
· Optometry degree
· Current certifications in CPR and BLS
· DEA license with Schedules II – V
· CV/Resume reflecting at least 6 months experience as an Optometrist; if Optometry residency was completed, please specify the duration and location
· Preferred: Board Certification with the National Board of Examiners in Optometry
Job Description:
· Diagnosis of visual and ocular problems through external and internal physical examination of the eye and adnexa.
· Treat and manage vision impairment and ocular disease with corrective lenses, therapeutic pharmaceuticals and other appropriate means.
· Use all forms of topical ophthalmic therapeutic medicine and oral therapeutic medicine to manage pathology and trauma.
· Perform minor surgical procedures including, but not limited to, anterior segment foreign body removal, corneal debridement and suture removal.
· Provide emergency eye care services on an outpatient basis, including the diagnosis and treatment of ophthalmic trauma and pathology consistent with hospital privileges.
· Utilize laboratory and radiology services to evaluate ophthalmic and related systemic conditions.
· Direct optometric technicians to assist in the clinical examination as appropriate.
