Job Overview North County Serenity House, A Program of HealthRIGHT 360 was founded in 1966 to provide substance use disorder services in the community. North County Serenity House provides a gender-responsive and trauma-informed environment, using evidence-based and best practices that recognize and account for the role that trauma frequently plays in substance use and criminal histories of women. For clients with co-occurring mental illness, we provide integrated substance use and mental health services which treat both conditions as primary. Our residential facility serves up to 120 women (with capacity for up to 20 children under 5 years of age) seeking recovery from substance use disorders. The SUD Supervisor I provides supervision and support to staff providing direct services within the behavioral health programs in San Diego. This position is responsible for ensuring that all appropriate professional standards, licensing/certification and clinical grant requirements are met. The incumbent is also responsible for assuring Riverside County programs and services are culturally proficient and client-centered. This position has managerial responsibility, including conducting of, or participation in performance appraisals and the authority to recommend action for line and supervisory employees. In addition, the SUD Supervisor I is a representative of the leadership team, and assists the Program Manager, and Managing Director in the hiring and supervising of new clinicians. Key ResponsibilitiesLeadership Team, will be responsible for ensuring client and staff safety and security, compliance and accountability. Expected to know the pulse of staff and help troubleshoot issues such as morale, turnover, etc. Handles aspects of management, including direct day-to-day supervision and mentoring of subordinate staff. Activities include but are not limited to, interviewing, recommendations for hiring, training, motivating, evaluating, and disciplining. Ensures staff is trained and familiar with clinical procedures, and practices (ie. new hire/intern clinical orientation). Provides regular on-site trainings (didactic) for employees and interns. Must be available afterhours to respond to facility or clinical emergencies, outstanding crisis or events precipitating an incident report. Responsible for quality assurance in EMR, and ensuring thorough clinical documentation standards set by State and County are met. Along with the Program Manager, will be point of contact for County’s Clinical Records Review audit. Responsible for the documentation of all Supervision meetings (groups and individuals). Will assist in the formation of Plan of Correction s for clinical chart disallowances. Education and Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Education Required:California state license (posts 2 years) in psychology, social work, marriage and family therapist with a graduate degree in psychology, social work, or counseling OR at least 5 years’ experience as a certified AOD Counselor.Valid California driver’s license.First Aid Certified within 60 days of employment.CPR Certified within 60 days of employment.Knowledge Required: Knowledge of and experience with evidence-based practices, preferably Motivational Interviewing, Seeking Safety, the MORS assessment, Transformational Care Planning, the American Society of Addiction Medicine (ASAM) assessment, TF-CBT and harm reduction models preferred.Knowledge of substance use and mental health best practices.Culturally competent and able to work with a diverse population.Experience working successfully with issues of substance abuse, mental health, criminal background, and other potential barriers to economic self sufficiency.Experience in Medi-Cal procedures including billing and documentation.Demonstrated understanding and appreciation of the needs of communities of color in the context of behavioral health.Desired: Knowledge of the Riverside County Department of Health’s structure, policies, and systems as they pertain to mental health and SUD service delivery.Experience in program planning, program development and implementation, and program evaluation.
