Job Overview HealthRIGHT 360 Behavioral Health Intake is the central access point for all clients seeking behavioral health services in San Francisco. This is a dynamic program with opportunities to interact with clients in need. The Intake Department works closely with the medical clinic to help clients access medical, addiction treatment, behavioral health - including psychiatry, and dental services. Under the supervision of the SF Director of Addiction Medicine, the Intake Addiction Provider is responsible for initial evaluation and management of withdrawal, and the initiation, maintenance and support of Medically Assisted Treatment of alcohol and drug use disorders for HealthRIGHT 360 clients entering into detox or residential treatment. The provider is responsible for taking medical histories, performing physical examinations, using screening tools, ordering and interpreting laboratory tests, and diagnosing and treating common illnesses and injuries. They are responsible for collaborating with the Intake Department and SF Director of Addiction Medicine to assess safe entry into our detox and residential treatment programs for patients with substance use disorders. If an MD the Intake Addiction Provider may also provide supervision and oversight for Advanced Practice Providers in Collaborative Agreements, providing supervision and having input in the clinical review, performance appraisal, peer review and hiring and termination of such staff. Key ResponsibilitiesSkills & Medicine Responsibilities: Assesses drug and alcohol use and determines level of severity using screening tools and current ASAM criteria. Determines medication withdrawal management for patients detoxing from drugs and alcohol to prevent withdrawal complications. Determines appropriate level of treatment care based on currently drug and alcohol use. Prescribes various Medical Assisted Treatments to reduce harm and prevent complications from drug and alcohol use. Educates and prescribes Naloxone to patient to reduce harm from drug use. Education and Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Education and Experience Required: Graduation from a United States accredited program for Nurse Practitioners or Physician Assistants. Familiarity with medication assisted treatments. Or - M.D. or D. O. degree from accredited United States medical school. Successfully completed internship and residency at accredited United States Internship or Residency Program. Familiarity with medication assisted treatments. Certification/Licensure: Possession of a current, valid California Registered Nurse License, Furnishing license.Possession of a California Nurse Practitioner Certificate; OR Possession of a current, valid California License to practice as a Physician Assistant issued by the California Board of Medical Quality Assurance.Current BLS/ACLS certificate or recertification within 2 months of hire.Possession or DEA license; Or Board Certified in family medicine or internal medicine. Board certified or registered in addiction medicine, or equivalent experience. Valid and active California medical license.Eligible to participate in the CMS Medicaid/Medicare reimbursement programs. Valid and active DEA license.
