102 ICF Incorporated, LLC is Hiring a Remote Chemist (Full-time)
ICF seeks a Chemist to join our team of environmental professionals to support an EPA contract, the Environmental Services Assistance Team (ESAT) in EPA Region 3, Fort Meade, Maryland. ICF is looking for a Chemist with inorganic analytical chemistry experience to join our ESAT team providing laboratory, field, and quality assurance (QA) support of environmental projects. The Environmental Laboratory Chemist will apply his or her knowledge and skills to conduct laboratory activities such as sample preparation or operating instruments (e.g., ion chromatography) to analyze inorganic compounds including hexavalent chromium, common inorganic anions, and total dissolved/ total suspended solids. Responsibilities include samples receipt and data entry for LIMS tracking following standard operating procedures (SOPs), sample preparation and analysis following SOPs and EPA reference methods, performing PFAS extractions, general laboratory support (e.g., glassware preparation, lab inventory), data and report peer review with direction and oversight, and flexibility to support additional assigned tasks as needed to meet client requirements. Additional duties may include data validation of third-party environmental data following the EPA National Functional Guidelines (NFGs) or other procedures. The Chemist will interact with, and communicate detailed technical information to, ICF environmental chemists, and clients. The successful candidate must be able to work both independently and as a member of a team of chemists and technicians. This position is full-time and the work location is the EPA Environmental Science Center in Fort Meade, Maryland. Required Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Chemistry or related field. At least 1 year of experience in inorganic analytical instrumental analysis using CLP, SW-846 and other EPA methods. Familiarity with EPA analytical chemistry methods. Experience using Microsoft Word, Excel, Adobe Acrobat to create and edit documents/files and other related tasks. Familiarity with Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS). Strong organizational skills. Excellent verbal, interpersonal and written communication skills, and the ability to think critically. Ability to work remotely when necessary (i.e., experience using collaboration tools such as Microsoft Teams, maintaining joint calendars, schedules, or files). Must be authorized to work in the United States of America, per federal contract requirements. MUST BE ABLE TO PASS an EPA background check to obtain access to US federal property, per contract requirements. Preferred Skills/Experience: Laboratory experience with EPA methods and laboratory instrumentation such as IC, GC/MS, HPLC, LCMS, ICP/MS, etc. for the analysis of organic and inorganic constituents and contaminants is preferred. Experience applying EPA National Functional Guidelines, or equivalent, for data qualification is preferred. Experience in non-routine analyses such as PFAS by EPA methods is desirable.
