We are looking for an Associate Process Engineer to join our R&D team in Omaha, Nebraska! This is a great opportunity to begin or expand your career as a Process Engineer within a large food manufacturing company. As an Associate Process Engineer, reporting to the R&D Manager (Engineering), you be part of a team supporting and assisting senior engineers with process technology development projects across our portfolio of food brands. You will play an essential role in the development of performance-based specifications and optimized system design. Your focus will be on understanding the science that defines food transformations, then translating this knowledge into impactful results. Located along the Missouri River, our Omaha office is within walking distance to downtown shops and restaurants. Join us for yoga or strength training classes offered at the onsite fitness center. Conagra's R&D facilities in Omaha are state of the art, including a large super lab, open benchtop space for prototype development, a top-of-the-line culinary kitchen, and a 50,000 square foot pilot plant. Position Responsibilities Develop and define manufacturing processes that accommodate specific consumer and marketplace requirements for new products, while meeting process, quality, and cost objectives. Define the physical, chemical, and biological transformations that must occur to produce new food products. Execute bench-top and pilot plant testing to develop prototypes and prove hypotheses. Review and analyze results of experiments in order to provide process recommendations. Prepare results for review with guidance of supervisor and may present to management the findings. Monitor consumer trends and wants/needs within the food industry. Learn and apply the Methodology of Product/Process/Package Development (MOPD). Position Qualifications BS Chemical, Food, or Biological Engineering or related degree. 1 year engineering experience inclusive of internships. Food processing experience preferred. Experience with process technology preferred. Proficient in Microsoft office programs including Word, Excel and Power Point. Effective communication skills and ability to collaborate cross-functionally. Structured problem-solving skills. Understands risk and values safety/food safety. Ability to travel up to 25% of the time. Must be able to travel independently and as a responsible company representative. Physical Requirements Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. occasionally; lift up to 25 lbs. regularly. Work extensively in pilot plant and or production plant floor environment. Exposure to manufacturing environments for periodic extended workdays to include loud noise, heat, cold, wet, and slippery conditions and all food allergens. Walking and/or standing for long periods of time. Climbing to various heights via stairs or ladders. Bending and/or crawling; must be able to move safely and freely around machinery.
