Job Description Summary Production Leads are responsible for providing leadership and directing plant employees in the accomplishment of assigned duties and are expected to aggressively seek ways to maximize plant performance in the area of plant recoveries, productivity, volumes, and sanitation while meeting all Company quality and sanitation standards. Production leads primary assignments will be at Co-Products, Plant I prep and packaging, and sanitation. Job Description Optimal performance requires “teamwork” with other departments including Quality Assurance, Sanitation, Warehouse/Shipping, Maintenance and Human Resources, as well as other Production Leads. The Production Lead must be very aware of each customer’s expectations and how to meet them. Making the right quality for each customer. Knowing what finished quality targets are and how to adjust the process to achieve them. The position of Production Lead allows for both a working and leadership role. Whatever is necessary to maximize performance, the Production Lead will endeavor to assist with. The Production Lead will have a working knowledge of all positions so they can safely help with any job and can provide training to new employees. The Production Lead must recognize that problems will be encountered with Quality, Personnel, Sanitation, Maintenance, or in other areas that requires the Team Leader Area Production’s involvement. Be sure the Team Leader Area Production is involved in all accident or quality situations. Keep the Team Leader Area Production informed frequently of all challenges and opportunities. The Production Lead should always have a positive attitude in dealing with all employees or any situation they might confront. He/she will help enforce all plant and safety rules as outlined in the Employee Handbook. This position requires that problems that interfere with performance or efficiencies be identified and resolved as soon as possible. Those problems that cannot be resolved on shift shall be communicated to the Team Leader Area Production and Management. Continual feedback of problem areas to the Team Leader Area Production and Management will help expedite the problem being solved. Other duties as assigned by the Supervisors and Superintendents. Basic & Preferred Qualifications QUALIFICATIONS Is knowledgeable in all sanitation. Read, understand, and obey all plant rules and practices safety as outlined in the employee handbook. Must be conscientious and consistent in his/her work. Be able to be work independently, be organized, and plan ahead. Be able to communicate orally and/or in writing at a level to effectively complete the tasks of this position. Be knowledgeable of proper body mechanics and safe lifting techniques. Be knowledgeable of the potential hazards and safety procedures associated with the task being done. OTHER KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES Ability to effectively communicate in English. Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to supervisors and other employees of the organization. Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent. Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions PHYSICAL DEMANDS Walks on a level, concrete surface where water is frequently used to rinse equipment. Slick areas exist due to the presence of potato matter, starch, and grease. However, to reach some areas within the plant, the employee must climb stairs and/or ladders and walk on cat walks Must have good eye-hand coordination. Must have normal finger dexterity and range of motion. Must be able to push and pull heavy items on occasion. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
