JOB DESCRIPTION: The Associate Sonographer performs diagnostic ultrasounds and other required modalities within individual department(s). The Associate Sonographer works closely with Staff Sonographers, Senior Sonographers, Advanced Sonographers, and Lead Sonographers to gain further competency and independent scanning skills. The Associate Sonographer studies both independently and under the guidance of mentoring staff to obtain required department credentials. The Associate Sonographer possesses the applicable certificates and/or educational background needed to qualify for credentialing through the ARDMS or CCI. The Associate Sonographer must obtain the required departmental credentialing within the specified time frame after credentialing eligibility is fulfilled. The Associate Sonographer must be a self-motivated learner and is expected to achieve learning goals utilizing personal time as needed. EDUCATION: Candidates with a college baccalaureate degree, degree from an accredited ultrasound program, or significant patient care experience in another field is preferred. Candidates who lack an applicable patient care background may be required to take college level human anatomy and medical terminology classes, or other industry related courses.
