The primary responsibilities of the Security Officer are to conduct patrol duties, respond immediately to emergency and non-emergency calls for assistance, and document services provided on each shift. The Security Officer is expected to act in a courteous and professional manner at all times. Note: Emergency calls for assistance frequently require Security Officers to take the lead in controlling a violent/threatening situation after clinical and non-clinical staff have attempted to verbally deescalate a difficult situation. Security intervention frequently requires detaining and/or restraining the violent patient, visitor, or staff member. EDUCATION: High School graduate or equivalent. Valid driver’s license and safe driving record. EXPERIENCE: Prior security or public safety experience preferred, with an emphasis on providing a safe and dignified environment in stressful situations with a diverse patient, visitor and staff population.
