EXTERNAL COMPANY WEBSITE www.deckers.com/careers Name of Employer: Deckers Outdoor Corporation Position Title: Designer II Position Location: 250 Coromar Dr, Goleta, CA 93117 *Hybrid in-office / remote position* Hours: Full time/40 hours Summary of Duties: Design product that meets category and overall brand creative direction. Develop concepts, sketches, and product ideation for assigned categories against product briefs within deadlines established. Work closely with product and development to choose materials and design products within specific pricing goals. Create artwork for new designs to evaluate styling, color and design combinations. Create cover sketches and technical details for development team to utilize in expediting tech/spec packages. Contribute as needed to seasonal inspiration planning. Collaborate closely with development and product team to design products to meet product briefs at target cost. Schedule meetings with internal team and external partners and supplies agendas, relevant samples and additional materials. Utilize knowledge of current consumer and market trends and interpret those trends into commercial product. Collaborate with Product and Development coordinator to coordinate on access, ordering and delivery of samples where needed. Responsible for maintaining team samples for easy access to reference and confidentiality. Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Industrial Design or related field and 4 years of experience related to footwear design. Applicants must have demonstrated experience with the following: creating and presenting compelling mood boards that communicate the vision of upcoming footwear collections; developing concepts, sketches, and product ideation for assigned categories against product briefs within the deadlines established; working with product development to choose materials and design products within specific pricing goals; collaborating with development, product line management and material teams to design products to meet product briefs at target cost; construction techniques, outsole construction, last making; manufacturing process from sketch, to teck pack, to prototype, to samples and commercialization; creating technical footwear tech packs on Adobe Illustrator within a 1 to 2 week timeframe turnaround; outsole tooling design, including ideation, tech pack creation and blueprint corrections; building compelling color and material stories; rendering colored Illustrator merchandising boards to evaluate styling, color, and design combinations; developing big picture storytelling ideas and merchandising across categories; designing and developing innovative material concepts to be used across design categories; current consumer and market trends and interpreting those trends into commercial product; and Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop. SALARY: $110,000 - $120,000/year The salary range posted reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for this role in our Goleta, CA location. Individual pay will be determined by location and additional factors, including job related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
