What You Will Contribute: This position is responsible for Performing assigned/scheduled repairs and maintenance on machines, equipment, buildings, and grounds which will include both inside and outside work involving plumbing, sheet metal fabrication, light heating and air conditioning, carpentry, painting, and lubrication for badger’s facilities. Responsible for observing safe work habits and maintaining cleanliness of work area. Proceeds under general supervision. Communicates with supervisor his/her daily activities, anomalies in work areas, and unsafe conditions. Major Job Duties/Accountability: Inspects, replaces, installs, adjusts and moves plant machinery and equipment as required Trouble shoots machine and equipment malfunctions (mechanical) and makes adjustments to correct issues Rebuilds and repairs somewhat complicated machinery and equipment Overhauls troublesome components and attachments which may involve dismantling, inspection, replacement of purchased parts, fitting, aligning of gears, bearings and shafts, involvement in the application of pressed, sliding and running fits Fits, aligns and calibrates production devices, moving parts, and adjusts feeding mechanisms. Operates simple machine tools to machine replacement parts Instructs other Maintenance personnel when required Works from machine design drawings, specifications, handbook formulas and equipment manuals Uses scales, squares, calipers, indicators, Jo blocks, levels, verniers, parallels, cutting torch, welding etc Initiates purchase requisitions for required parts and materials Installs, maintains, and operates complicated machine tools such as NC control milling machine, NC control lathes, automatic screw machines, plastic molding machines, presses, etc. with a minimum of direction Performs a diversity of assignments as requested Must be able to instruct, guide and train other maintenance personnel as required Qualifications: 5 years of related experience High school degree required Minimum of 576 hours of formal post-high school instruction at a recognized specialized trade, technical school or college in a related field(s) and certificate program. Minimum of 4 years of work experience completing tasks included in Maintenance II job description * Similar requirements to Wisconsin Department of Workforce Development requirements for Maintenance Mechanic Apprenticeship (http://dwd.wisconsin.gov/apprenticeship/trades/maintenance_mechanic.htm). Education and work experience documentation to be supplied by employee and to be reviewed and approved by management. Completion of State approved Maintenance Mechanic Apprenticeship Program or approved equal preferred Basic computer skills required Ability to pass internal forklift and hazmat training if applicable Ability to work independently with little supervision Maintains open communication and positive working relationships with staff Ability to read, write and speak English Demonstrates the ability to troubleshoot, repair, and rebuild compressors, pumps, valves, actuators, and cylinders Demonstrates the ability to troubleshoot, repair, and rebuild friction bearings, conveyors Can perform coupling and gearbox alignments, and replace electric motors Demonstrates exceptional technical and professional competence in rebuilding or overhauling of machines and troublesome machine components (both mechanical and electrical).
