Ashe Services For Aging, Inc. is Hiring a Staff Development Coordinator Near West Jefferson, NC

Position Summary:

The Staff Development Coordinator supports existing and newly-hired employees - Nursing Assistants, Personal Care Aides, and Med-aides during their initial orientation period and periodically thereafter with goals to:

·Reduce turnover in the direct care workforce by giving new employees a personal introduction to the work and the role of the nursing assistant

·Serve as a resource to all nursing assistants, personal care aides, and Med-aides in the organization

·Offer one-on-one, on-the-job training, problem-solving, and support to nursing assistants and Medication Aides that is specific to their identified needs and areas of challenge

·Serve as a liaison between direct care staff and management by identifying challenges impacting resident care, negotiating solutions, and facilitating follow-through.

Primary Responsibilities:

·Provide on-the-job training for new, rehired, and existing employees

·Support newly-hired aides and medication aides for a minimum of five shifts, increasing their independence with tasks as their progress and experience allows

·Train/educate all newly hired/existing staff regarding departmental procedures, safety and health issues, and other information

·Complete an orientation checklist on all new hires upon the completion of the orientation period and a competency evaluation within one month of hire

·Provide constructive feedback to each new Aide and Med-Aide

·Provide remedial training and support to Personal Care Aides, CNAs, and/or Med-aides as needs or concerns arise.

·Serve as a liaison to the administrative staff and new employees

·Participate in the interviewing of CNA, Personal Care Aide, and Med-Aide applicants

·Complete bi-weekly nursing schedule coordinating requests to ensure appropriate coverage of facility

·Complete and post daily assignment sheets/time schedules as well as a holes/needs list with each schedule.

·Assist with recordkeeping for facility in-service education and orientation classes for newly-hired personnel

·Assist with maintaining and tracking records of current certifications/licenses for nursing department employees and coordinate needed trainings with Administrator and RN

·Build rapport with all school CNA class instructors and students that perform clinical hours in the facility and assist with recruitment strategies pertaining to thereof

·Develop and maintain a good working rapport with interdepartmental personnel as well as other departments within the facility

·Be on call for questions and resident emergencies as scheduled

·Be an active member of the management team

Minimum qualifications:

•Two years of experience as an aide and/or medication aide in a long-term care setting

•Familiarity with agency policies and procedures

•Ability to speak, read and write fluently and effectively
