Restaurant General Manager Job Description

General Description:

The General Manager oversees all aspects of the restaurant to ensure smooth operations and an excellent guest experience. The GM must drive results in his/her restaurant, through people development, sales and profit growth. They must hire, train and develop staff and teach/promote the culture of the company. The GM must convey the company culture to his/her crew and be a creative team player who likes to work hard, have fun, and show sincere dedication to the brand.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities:

- Oversees every aspect of restaurant operations to ensure high quality food, cleanliness and safety standards, and profitability.

- Controls profit & loss and meet sales goals, by following cash control/security procedures, maintaining inventory, managing labor, and taking appropriate actions.

- Responsible for ordering and maintaining adequate inventory to meet operational needs. - Ensures maintenance of equipment, facility, and grounds

- Ensures that the restaurant is adequately staffed to meet guest needs.

- Recruits, interviews, and hires restaurant employees; plans, assigns and directs work, conducts performance appraisals, rewards and disciplines, motivates and trains team members.

- Provide leadership and direction to all team members to ensure efficient operation. Promote suggestive selling techniques.

- Conduct team meetings as needed to discuss daily operations, procedures, store promotions, safety, security, and training

- Ensures local health and safety codes, and company safety and security policy are met.

- Maintaining professional behavior while creating a warm, fun, friendly, and hospitable atmosphere.

- Ensures excellent customer service and experience. Addresses customer complaints and resolves problems.  Promote, support and encourage local marketing to increase restaurant sales.  Involved with the community to represent the restaurant and company and build relationships in the local market.

- Analyzes sales and projections and propose store action plans to area director.

Required Skills And Requisites:

- Must have a true passion for food and quality.

- Strong focus on quality control and cleanliness. Ensure that food is properly handled and prepared by employees, following all sanitation and safety procedures, to produce the freshest product.

- Hands on management style, this position is expected to work alongside employees in the restaurant while also overseeing the operation.

- Serve Safe Certification

- Excellent communication skills. Ability to convey information and ideas through a variety of media;

- Leadership qualities. Must be able to build a team and align employee actions with the plans established to achieve business goals. Requires the ability to inspire confidence and gain respect of kitchen team, supervisors, and owners.

- Ability to remain calm, maintain order and thrive under pressure.

- Previous restaurant management and marketing experience.

- Familiar with Microsoft Outlook, Office, and Excel, POS software.

Education Background:

- High school diploma or GED.

- Some college preferred.

Schedule/Compensation:

- Full time (50 -55 hours weekly)

- Salary: $55,000 - $70,000 / year

Pay: $55,000.00 - $70,000.00 per year
