Reliability Specialist

Job Description:

As a Reliability Specialist, you will play a crucial role in optimizing and improving the reliability and performance of our equipment, systems, tools, and processes. Operating at the intersection of operations, maintenance, and leadership, your focus will be on driving continuous improvement and cultural change. Your efforts aim to minimize downtime, reduce costs, and enhance overall operational efficiency.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Reliability Improvement Initiatives: Lead the charge in developing and executing initiatives that will elevate the reliability and performance of our equipment, processes, tools, and systems. Your role involves introducing cutting-edge maintenance techniques, recommending design changes, optimizing spare parts inventory, and implementing reliability-centered maintenance (RCM) programs to drive continuous improvement.
  • Condition Monitoring: Play a crucial role in implementing and executing condition monitoring techniques, including vibration analysis, thermography, and lubrication analysis. Your expertise will contribute to the early identification of signs of deterioration or potential failures, ensuring proactive responses to maintain optimal equipment performance.
  • Preventive Maintenance Support: Collaborate with cross-functional teams in the development of preventive maintenance plans based on schedules, work orders, or instructions. Your involvement will be integral to the proactive management of maintenance activities, minimizing downtime, and optimizing operational efficiency.
  • Collaboration and Teamwork Champion: Engage seamlessly with maintenance, engineering, and reliability teams to foster a collaborative environment. Your role involves actively sharing information, conducting root cause analyses, and contributing substantively to improvement initiatives. Participate enthusiastically in team meetings, providing valuable input based on keen observations and data analysis, ensuring a unified and effective approach to operational excellence.
  • Root Cause Analysis and Failure Analysis: Take the lead in conducting root cause analyses (RCAs) to identify the underlying reasons for equipment failures and reliability issues. Collaborate closely with maintenance teams, engineers, and vendors to analyze failed components or systems, identifying valuable opportunities for improvement.
  • Data Analysis and Reporting: Harness the power of data by collecting, analyzing, and interpreting reliability data. Your role involves identifying trends, patterns, and areas for improvement, translating complex data into clear and concise reports. You'll present your findings to management, highlighting key metrics and providing actionable recommendations for enhancing reliability.
  • Collaboration and Training: Forge collaborative partnerships with cross-functional teams, including maintenance, operations, and engineering, to implement reliability improvement initiatives and projects. Your role extends to providing training and support to plant personnel on reliability concepts, best practices, and the adoption of new technologies. Your expertise will contribute to building a knowledgeable and empowered workforce.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Business, Associate Technical or Business Degree, or a high school diploma with 4 plus years of relevant experience. Certifications or additional education in maintenance management or leadership are a plus.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of reliability principles, including familiarity with reliability engineering concepts, methodologies, and best practices. Understanding of preventive maintenance strategies, RCM, and failure analysis techniques.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively interact with diverse stakeholders. Proven interpersonal skills to foster collaboration and teamwork across different departments and levels of the organization.
  • Data Analysis and Reporting: Proficiency in data management and analysis using tools such as spreadsheets, databases, or computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS). Ability to generate clear and concise reports and presentations.
  • Organizational Skills: Demonstrated organizational and project management skills to coordinate and prioritize activities, manage multiple projects simultaneously, and meet deadlines. Attention to detail in maintaining accurate records, documentation, and reporting.
  • Problem-Solving Abilities: Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills to identify root causes of reliability issues, analyze data, and recommend effective solutions. Ability to make data-driven decisions to improve equipment reliability.
  • Team Player: Ability to lead and work well in a team environment, collaborating with cross-functional teams and building strong working relationships. Flexibility and adaptability to work in a dynamic and evolving organizational setting.
  • Ability to travel domestically, 50% of the time.
