Introduction- Do you want to grow your career in An American Classical Education, helping students to live virtuous, responsible, and joyful lives? Wyoming Classical Academy is a K-12 tuition-free public charter school offering an exceptional American Classical education. We are a Hillsdale College member school and will be opening K-6 this next school year in Mills, Wyoming (across the river from Casper, WY). Wyoming Classical Academy is seeking dedicated faculty members, well versed in classical philosophy and pedagogy, who can train the minds and improve the hearts of our students. We are hiring one K-6 Music teacher at Wyoming Classical Academy.
All positions are open until filled.

Goal- The classroom teacher develops virtuous, responsible, joyful individuals-- providing a content- rich classical education that will train the minds and improve the hearts of WCA students.

Overview- The job of a teacher is a noble endeavor-- one that can positively impact the lives of many students daily and help young people be well equipped in this world. The teacher leads the class in the pursuit of truth, beauty, and goodness. In this pursuit, the teacher partners with parents to help influence and shape each young scholar to learn virtue, to understand valuable content across many subjects, and to develop practical work habits and life skills. The job of a teacher is to promote student safety, manage the classroom well, teach with excellence in order to impart robust content and skills to each student, and to communicate well with students and parents as we move through the year of learning.

Teacher Certification:
1) Wyoming Teacher Certified If you are Wyoming teacher certified and licensed in the area you are teaching in, you are set (I.E. You have a current Wyoming K-6 teaching certificate).

2) Teacher Certified in another state If you have a B.A. and are teacher certified in another state by an accredited institution, then you have reciprocity in Wyoming. You will need to turn in an Initial Standard License application, college transcripts, teaching license from that state, and an Institutional Recommendation from the college you graduated from (if possible). In addition, the application cost is $225 plus $50 for fingerprints. You will need to pass a Constitution/Wyoming Constitution quiz, and elementary teachers need to pass the Praxis II multiple subjects test (middle/high must pass their content test). This license from a different state will transfer to Wyoming under the same credential.

3) You have a B.A. from an accredited institution but are not teacher certified If a candidate has a 4-year B.A. from an accredited institution (in anything), but needs to be certified in Wyoming, then he/she applies for a 3-yr. Authorization Exception with the Wyoming Professional Teaching Standards Board.
Here the candidate signs up for “Teacher Ready” or “Teach Now” and has up to 3 years to complete this program. The “Teacher Ready” or “Teach Now” path is set up to be a 9-12 month program costing the candidate about $6,500 total to become Wyoming teacher certified. During this time, the candidate can be teaching while on the 3-yr. Authorization Exception. The candidate then applies for the Wyoming Teaching certificate and completes this requirement. WCA may look at sharing some of this $6,500 cost in some situations. In addition, there may be Long Term Substitute options, so we encourage you to apply.

All applicants must pass a fingerprint and criminal background check. We welcome you to apply! If you have any questions, please contact Headmaster Teterud via e-mail at Matt.Teterud@wyoclassical.org
