The Medical Assistant (M.A.) under direct supervision will perform routine patient care, technical and supportive functions in a non-clinic setting. The Medical Assistant will function within the scope of practice as described by the State of California Board. On the iSMART team we work closely with underrepresented communities, addressing health-care disparities and inequities, prioritizing the following populations:

• People experiencing homelessness
• People who use drugs/alcohol
• Rural communities
• BIPoC communities
• LGBTQIA communities
• Justice-impacted communities

We are looking for a Medical Assistant, that embraces our mission of meeting people where they’re at and providing high quality medical care regardless of their ability to pay. Approximately 60-75% of our outreach work is done in the field, either in a homeless shelter or on the streets, while the other 25-30% is done in a clinic, doing documentation and other tasks in order to prepare for the next outreach. Our teams go out rain or shine.

Completion of accredited Medical Assistant Program preferred. Employee may be trained on the job in compliance with State regulations if needed.

Current Basic Life Support Card required.
