Position Summary:

Chemical Formulations Laboratory Technician will be responsible for supporting our new product development and testing goals, through the use of laboratory testing methodologies and equipment. This individual will be working in the R&D Chemical Formulating laboratory and the R&D Mechanical testing laboratory to provide prototypes, quantitative analysis, and results for new products.

Essential Job Functions:

• Works closely with the R&D Researchers to make prototypes of toothpaste and mouthwash using lab mixers, which includes managing the ingredients and packages by recording how much ingredients were used to report back to the Researchers.
• Analyzes the physical property by measuring and recording physical properties of the protypes, which include pH, Viscosity, ion selective electrodes, spectrophotometer, and HPLC. Working knowledge of method development and troubleshooting preferred.
• Record the outcomes (ingredient usage, weight/time used for formulation, analyzing data)
• Conduct quantitative and qualitative analysis on product efficacy and quality using various lab equipment, such as programmable robotic arm, electronic microscope, durability testing, and image analysis software
• Provide statistic conclusions and research findings
• Introduce, establish, maintain and/or improve test methodologies of product analysis
• Maintain SOPs and test methods
• International communication with group companies may be required
• Domestic travel may be required such as a laboratory training course

Education

• Required - BS in Chemistry or Engineering (or equivalent technical field). Classes, or previous industry experience in chemistry or biologic sciences preferred.

Knowledge/Experience

• 2 years of full-time chemical or mechanical technician experience
• Familiar with a variety of laboratory test methods and procedures
• Material analysis and testing experience
• Desired – Image analysis equipment and software
• Desired – Basics of statistical analysis

• Desired – Design and manufacturing experience

Skills

• Analytical thinking
• MS Office Suite (Excel, Words, Power Point)
• Good presentation skill
• Desired - 2D/3D CAD, basic laboratory equipment experience (pH, specific gravity and/or viscosity), mixing of chemicals
