Relationships
  • Reports to - Senior Project Manager or Project Manager on assigned project.
Role PurposeThe Field Engineer is an entry level position for recent Construction Management graduates that assists a project team with planning and daily execution of the construction project. This role will assist in obtaining, evaluating and coordinating all information needed to construct the project in accordance with the contract documents. As a Field Engineer you will become familiar with the life cycle of a project, to be positioned to grow within Thomas on a Superintendent or Project Manager track. We're looking for Field Engineer candidates located in either Wilmington, NC or Raleigh, NC!
Responsibilities
  • Perform line and grade work for building layout and control as required.
  • Assist in the implementation of the site safety program as required and ensure subcontractor compliance with Thomas safety standards and all applicable safety codes and regulations.
  • Assist in the maintenance of contract documents and electronic web-based documents for field operations.
  • Assist in the preparation of daily reports.
  • Review all work as it is being placed to be sure it is accurate within accepted tolerances.
  • Review contract drawings, specifications and drawings to ensure proper coordination and execution.
  • Assist in the preparation of project builds.
Requirements
  • BS or Associate's Degree in Construction Management, Building Science, or other related field.
  • Intern or co-op experience with a general contractor.
  • Demonstrate understanding of building processes and systems.
  • Previous experience working in Microsoft Office Suite and Procore.
  • Superior verbal and written communication skills with the ability to tailor styles to match the audience.
  • Must be able to travel 10-15% of the time.
