SUPERVISOR- LPN DOCS ON CALL

Job Summary:

To provide leadership and supervision to providers, staff and patients. Responsible for personnel issues to include, but not limited to, hiring, termination, disciplinary action, training and education. Accountable for being sure staff complete daily responsibilities. Responsible for maintaining operation aspects of the Back Office and Front Office. Responsible for training back office staff, and meeting safety requirements/goals for the back and front office. Work with and communicate closely with the manager, when manager is not in office. Assist in active patient scheduling with front office staff, assist with patient care, charting, education to patients and to assist the providers when needed. Assist in maintaining the scheduling for back office staff.

Duties/Responsibilities:

Administrative

  • Act as liaison between back office, front office, physicians and management.
  • Participate in monthly and quarterly back office meetings.
  • Understand the overall business aspects of the practice.
  • Report on all state mandated reportable conditions.
  • Understand and assist in schedules management
  • Represent PCP within the Grand Valley when opportunities arise to be involved with organizations, educational institutions, and other businesses interested in promoting the pursuit of a higher level of wellness and advising families of the challenges in health care
  • Responsible for research and development of educational topic presentations
  • Responsible for OSHA and other regulatory training and compliance. Coordinates cleanliness, orderliness and safety of working environment
  • Provide educational leadership and supervision to LPN and MOA staff

Staffing and Human Resources

  • Assist in interviewing, hire, discipline and terminate staff
  • Conduct and perform back office staff evaluations
  • Work effectively with co-workers
  • Conduct or schedule training of new employees
  • Maintain proper work schedule/vacation requests
  • Directly supervise all back office personnel.

Patient Care

  • Assure positive communications among and within the front office, back office, physicians, patients and families
  • Utilizes critical nursing skills
  • Maintains positive interface and relation with outside organizations
  • Responds to emergent health conditions for patients checking in at the front desk (i.e. cardiac symptoms)
  • Reporting of diagnostic testing, referrals, ordering & scheduling of tests
  • Responds to all emergent phone calls and EMR messages to assess and give directives
  • IV hydration
  • Case Management of the following protocols and implementing the action plan and prescribing of medications; urinary tract, Vaginal Candidiasis, Medication, Strep, Coumadin, COPD, CHF, Asthma, Chronic Opioids, and pain management.
  • Supporting floor staff when needed (blood draws, catheters, injections)
  • Keep patient flow and physician efficiency at an optimum level including, but not limited to, having the patient prepared for the physician visit, scheduling tests and procedures requested by the physician, completing medical record and other paperwork, reviewing schedules and work flow with the physician throughout the day.
  • Walk In Trauma assessment
  • Triage patient calls
  • Obtain and chart vital statistics and injections on patients
  • Provide patient instruction and education materials
  • Make and chart appointments for out-of-office exams
  • Call patients on test results
  • Prescribe medication and educate patients as directed by physician /NP/PA
  • Do nebulizers, ear lavage, catheterization, splinting as needed
  • Order various procedures/labs as directed by physician

Assisting Physician

  • Attend physicians on pelvic, testicular and breast exams, and minor procedures as needed
  • Keep physician informed of his daily schedule and adjust as needed
  • Dispense oral or injectable meds at physician's direction

Experience:

Must be LPN with no less than five years of experience who is capable of working back office and front office position and IV certified – preferred. Has a caring personality with a positive attitude; calm under pressure and exhibit sound judgment; excellent time management and problem solving abilities; good communication skills; able to work as part of the back or front office team and must be accountable. Must have knowledge of the proper use of medical and lab equipment as well as all computer programs. Must be able to multi-task, capable and able to prioritize schedules and tasks to keep doctor on schedule as much as possible; previous medical office experience preferred

Education Requirements:

Attend Continuing Education programs as requested or as required by the position

Working Conditions:

Works in a well-lighted and ventilated area; sitting, standing and walking; light to moderate lifting all the time; heavy lifting occasionally.

Hours of need may change at any time with or without notice.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. This is primarily a walking/standing role; however, there is some lifting (must be able to lift up to 50 pounds safely), bending, and overhead movement. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, and ability to adjust focus.

Must be an Medical Assistant/LPN/RN with no less than five years of experience who is capable of working nursing position and IV certified preferred.
