Family YMCA Marion & Polk Counties is Hiring a SF Community Engagement Coordinator Near Silverton, OR

Description

Position Summary:

The Community Engagement Coordinator will collaborate with a robust leadership team to advance the mission of the Y, a prominent nonprofit organization dedicated to enhancing the community through stability, health, and well-being for all. This role will oversee outcome-driven fundraising initiatives and execute comprehensive resource development plans at the Silver Falls YMCA branch. Additionally, the Community Engagement Coordinator will support the Resource Development Director, Silver Falls Branch Director, and Silver Falls Advisory Board of Directors while serving as the team leader for resource development projects within the Silverton community. The Family YMCA of Marion and Polk Counties promotes a cause-centered culture, known for its hospitality, sincerity, optimism, and support, while concurrently raising awareness of the YMCA's positive impact on the community.

Entry Level Preferences

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, business management, communications, or a related field is preferred.
  • 2 years or more experience in community engagement, non-profit fundraising, or another acceptable combination of education and experience.
  • Valid Oregon Driver’s License and acceptable driving record; proof of automobile insurance; and personal reliable transportation.
  • Proficiency in telephone, written, and verbal communication.
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Office programs.
  • Ability to work within comprehensive donor management software. 
  • Ability to use email marketing platforms as a communication tool with Donors.
  • Ability and willingness to work collaboratively as a team member.
  • Ability and willingness to establish and maintain positive working relationships.
  • Ability to adapt to an ever-changing environment.
  • Have legible and attractive handwriting/penmanship.
  • Excellent Customer Service Skills.
  • Be able to work under short deadlines and high-pressure situations.
  • Be prepared to handle other duties as assigned.
  • Ability to manage/drive projects independently.

Requirements

Essential Functions

Fundraising Events (30%)

  • Develop and execute fundraising events for the Silver Falls Branch in partnership with Special Event Committee(s), Branch Advisory Board(s), Resource Development Team, and Branch Director.
  • Build a diverse and active special events committee in collaboration with Branch Director.
  • Ability to use GreaterGiving auction software.
  • Provide auction item donations thank you receipts.
  • Process ticket sales and maintain guest lists for all events.
  • Day of event lead at each Silver Falls fundraising event, responsible for delegating staff assignments.
  • Create and coordinate all documents in support of events including promotional materials, sponsorship packages, and case statements, with support from Resource Development team and Branch Director.
  • Support Metro level events as needed.
  • Establish and coordinate the facility/logistics/operational needs of events.

Donor Relations and Stewardship (30%)

  • Nurture, cherish, and recruit community members who support our mission and execute a year-round donor stewardship and communication program for Silver Falls Branch. 
  • Execute the donor stewardship plan based off tiered and segmented donor lists.
  • Call donors to thank them personally and coordinate thank-you calls with leadership.
  • Assist with the strategy for and creation of written correspondence from various leadership team members to donors.
  • Assist with donor research and attracting new donors.
  • Meet one-on-one with donors and keep them informed of programmatic updates at branch.

Marketing, Communications, and Public Relations (30%)

  • Work with Resource Development Director to create a unified voice across the organization, through both traditional and digital media for our members, stakeholders, and donor audiences.
  • Coordinate materials for current and new programs within the organization in collaboration with Branch Director.
  • Ability to create presentations that communicate the Y’s mission, programs, and services to various community groups.
  • Create and coordinate all documents in support of events and fundraising campaigns including promotional materials, sponsorship packages, and case statements – with support from Resource Development Team.
  • Support and attend meetings or community events that provide opportunity to build brand awareness. 

Other (10%)

  • Attend regular meetings with Branch Director and Leadership staff as needed.
  • Attend monthly Advisory Council Board meetings for the Silver Falls branch.
  • Communicate professionally, respectfully, and supportively with internal team members, external partners, and board members.
  • Promote a positive working environment by adhering to the YMCA Code of Conduct.
  • Conduct the business of the YMCA to maintain and increase its goodwill and reputation in the community, consistent with professional and ethical standards of behavior.
  • Ability to work independently in a hybrid role. 
  • Support capital campaign projects as needed.
