  • Communicate frequently and consistently with students and families, utilizing various channels including phone calls and emails, to provide academic support, address behavioral concerns, discuss logistics, and offer homework assistance.
  • Utilize best practices aligned with school-wide systems to manage student behavior effectively, creating a safe, warm, demanding, and joyful classroom environment conducive to learning.
  • Set specific and ambitious growth targets for all students, leveraging available resources to ensure they meet these targets and achieve their full potential.
  • Implement backward planning techniques to design weekly and daily instruction that is tightly aligned with prescribed unit objectives and tailored to meet the diverse needs of individual students, as evidenced by assessment data.
  • Assess students regularly and systematically, analyzing assessment data and sharing insights through school-wide systems to inform instructional decisions and support student progress.
  • Execute engaging instruction using best practices, including differentiation with instructional technology and other techniques, to ensure rigorous learning experiences for all students.
  • Collaborate actively with grade-level and content teams throughout each day, sharing responsibility for all students and leveraging collective expertise to enhance teaching and learning experiences.s.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Understanding of current teaching methods and educational pedagogy suitable for young learners
  • Familiarity with elementary school curricula and concepts
  • Proficiency in using data information systems, conducting data analysis, and formulating action plans
  • Knowledge of relevant federal and state laws regarding education and students
  • Competence in using computer network systems and software applications as required
  • Strong organizational and coordination skills
  • Effective communication skills with students and parents
  • Commitment to self-evaluation and professional growth
  • Ability to establish and maintain collaborative relationships with colleagues and other stakeholders

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education or related field. A Master's degree is preferred.
  • Active Michigan Teaching License or active teachers license that can be transferred to MI (required).
  • At least two years prior success teaching in urban communities (strongly preferred).
  • Solid understanding of elementary education subjects and concepts.
  • Effective classroom management abilities.
  • Capacity to connect with young students and build rapport.
  • Proficiency in educational technology and its integration into instruction.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $45,000.00 - $57,500.00 per year
