The Research Foundation for The State University of New York at Stony Brook is Hiring a Research Technician I Near Southampton, NY

Required Qualifications: (as evidenced by an attached resume):High School diploma/GED (foreign equivalent or higher). One (1) year full time experience directly related to the project or program.
Preferred Qualifications:
Associated Degree (foreign equivalent or higher) in Marine Sciences or similar. Experience in microscopic image analyses. Experience in field sampling coast ecosystems. Experience on pigment analyses. Experience in microscopic quantification of plankton.
Brief Description of Duties:
The Research Technician will assist in the Gobler Laboratory, working with laboratory and field research focused on harmful algae blooms. They will assist with specific ongoing water quality monitoring and associated sample analysis.

The selected candidate will be responsible for the following:

  • Assist in conducting experiments with harmful algae.
  • Assisting with field sampling of coastal ecosystems.
  • Assist with image analysis of plankton samples.
  • Assist in analyzing data from image analyses and compiling reports and data.
  • Assist in performing microscopic analyses of plankton samples.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Special Notes:The Research Foundation of SUNY is a private educational corporation. Employment is subject to the Research Foundation policies and procedures, sponsor guidelines and the availability of funding. FLSA Non Exempt position, eligible for the overtime provisions of the FLSA.
