Position Title Agronomy Instructor
Job Description Position: The Agronomy Instructor is a 9 month, benefitted, one-year contract, grant funded, faculty categorized position located on the Torrington Campus.
College pays up to $1,000 for relocation expenses
Start Date: May 1, 2024
Salary Hire Range: $44,315.00 to $60,439.00 annually for each 9-month contract (actual amount depends on education and experience)
Job Summary:
The Agronomy Instructor must utilize multiple learning methods in and out of the classroom to maximize student learning in agronomy. As an Agronomy Instructor at Eastern Wyoming College, the successful candidate will play a pivotal role in educating and shaping the next generation of agronomy professionals. You will be responsible for designing and delivering high-quality instruction in agronomy-related courses, fostering student learning and engagement, and contributing to the overall academic excellence of the institution. Wyoming Innovation Partnership Grant participation, recruiting, committee work, and department planning is also required elements of this position.
Essential Functions/Duties:
- Industry Engagement: Foster partnerships with local agricultural organizations, businesses, and professionals to enhance students' exposure to real-world agronomy practices, internships, and employment opportunities.
- Curriculum Development: Develop and update curriculum for agronomy courses in accordance with industry standards, educational trends, and institutional guidelines.
- Instructional Delivery: Deliver engaging and effective instruction through lectures, discussions, hands-on activities, and field experiences to enhance students' understanding of agronomy principles and practices.
- Student Assessment: Design and administer assessments, including exams, projects, and assignments, to evaluate student learning outcomes and provide timely feedback for improvement.
- Advising and Mentorship: Provide academic advising and mentorship to students pursuing agronomy-related programs, assisting them with course selection, career planning, and academic success strategies.
- Laboratory Management: Oversee laboratory activities, ensuring safety protocols are followed and equipment is maintained properly to facilitate hands-on learning experiences for students.
- Professional Development: Stay current with advancements in agronomy research, technologies, and practices through professional development activities such as workshops, conferences, and continuing education.
- Committee Participation: Serve on departmental and institutional committees as assigned, contributing to decision-making processes and initiatives to enhance the quality of education and student support services.
Required Qualifications Minimum Qualifications:
- A bachelor's degree in agronomy, crop science, soil science, or a closely related field from an accredited institution.
- Demonstrated teaching experience in agronomy or related field at the postsecondary level is preferred. Professional experience in agronomy, crop production, or agricultural research is highly desirable.
- Possession of relevant certifications or licenses, such as Certified Crop Adviser (CCA) or Certified Professional Agronomist (CPAg), is advantageous.
- Current and valid state-issued driver's license
Preferred Qualifications Preferred Qualifications:
- A master's degree or doctoral degree is preferred. Three or more years full-time teaching experience in discipline at secondary level or higher
- Previous instruction experience in higher education
