Job Summary:New graduate nurses are supported throughout their transition from academia to practice with a 12 month Vizient/AACN Nurse Residency Program TM. During the 12 month residency program, Nurse Residents will gather monthly for seminars to develop clinical and leadership skills. Nurse Residents will take part in a comprehensive orientation and will receive ongoing support and mentorship.

Under the direction of a Registered Nurse, the Graduate Nurse (GN) utilizes the nursing process to provide physical, psychological, sociocultural, and spiritual dimensions of care to patients and their families, including educational and discharge needs. With an average length of stay 25-30 days, the GN is able to develop strong relationships with our patients and play a critical role in their recovery. GN's at Gaylord Hospital are able to begin their orientation in preparation of becoming an RN and prior to taking the NCLEX exam.

Qualifications:

• Pending Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing required; Bachelor's degree preferred
• Pending 90-day provisional nursing license granted by the state of CT.
• Current American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross (ARC) BLS certification required

WORK SCHEDULE:24 - 32 hours, varied shifts, including every other weekend and holiday

Milne Units: Step down/progressive care unit of level of care includes:

• Continuous telemetry monitoring
• Ventilator support and weaning
• LVAD patient population
• Heart Transplant population

Lyman 1 & Hooker 1: Medical Units offer skills such as:

• Stroke
• Complex wounds
• Telemetry
• Pulmonary care

Lyman 2 & Hooker 2: Specialty Units are CARF Accredited with a focused patient population:

• Traumatic Brain Injury
• Stroke
• Spinal cord Injury
