Part time, Limited Term position with estimated duration from approximately August through November 2024. East Clinic. There are no benefits for this limited term position.

The Registered Dietitian is responsible for the development, promotion, coordination, and implementation of dietary education to GHC-SCW members across the GHC-SCW delivery system. These initiatives are accomplished through individual appointments, group classes, targeted case management and phone call follow-up. Counseling and instruction will focus on diet, exercise and lifestyle change to maintain/enhance health or improve management of acute or chronic health conditions through dietary modifications. The outcome of the initiatives will be positive interactions with groups and individual members for improving health status, decreasing behavioral risks, and improving control of chronic disease. In addition to other assignments, the incumbent may provide direct nutritional education and case management to patients with diabetes and pre-diabetic conditions such as metabolic syndrome. Work is performed under the general direction, guidance, and supervision of the Clinical Health Education and Integrated Care Manager.

JOB SPECIFIC QUALIFICATIONS

1. Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Nutrition Sciences, or Dietetics required. Master's degree in nutrition or working towards masters is preferred.
2. Licensure issued by the American Dietetic Association (ADA) as a Registered Dietitian required.
3. Certification as a Certified Diabetes Educator desirable.
4. Possession of a valid Wisconsin Driver license with a good driving record, access to a vehicle and the ability to travel.
5. Minimum of two (2) years of experience with individual medical nutrition therapy and group teaching required. Experience in a clinical outpatient setting preferred; experience with children desirable.
6. Strong background in educational program development, implementation and evaluation preferred.
7. Knowledge of current medical nutrition therapy for weight management required.
8. Knowledge of current medical nutrition therapy and relationship of diet, education and medication for special medical conditions (i.e. pre-diabetes, diabetes, hypertension, hypercholesterolemia, pregnancy, obesity) required.
9. Knowledge of basic counseling skills required.
10. Ability to be culturally sensitive and work with a diverse population.
11. Ability to read, develop, write, explain and critique a variety of creative written patient education materials required.
12. Ability to maintain patient confidentiality required. Knowledge of or ability to learn HIPAA requirements.
13. Knowledge of and ability to use computers. Familiarity with Microsoft Office programs. Ability to learn and use electronic medical record systems such as EPIC.
14. Strong verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills.
15. Good organizational skills with the ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously with frequent interruptions required. Good problem solving skills required.
16. Ability to be a team player in a team oriented environment required. Ability to interact with staff at all levels required.
17. Ability to be flexible, meet deadlines, work under pressure, and manage changing priorities required.
18. Ability to work flexible hours as required.
19. Ability to speak and listen in person and on the phone required. Ability to work indoors required.
20. Ability to lift, carry and push a maximum of 15 pounds required. Ability to perform fingering and handling with one or both hands required. Ability to see at near, mid and far range required.
