Applicants with professional experience may be considered for a higher-level position. Individuals possessing a Certified Public Accountant certificate accepted by the Florida State Board of Accountancy, CISA certificate, or qualifying work experience may be employed at above the entry level.Examples of Work PerformedAssists in conducting IT audits or other IT engagements at State agencies, educational entities, and local governmental units, including, but not limited to, the review and evaluation of automated systems and internal controls, necessary testing, and other related procedures.Assists in the compilation of general statistical data.Assists in monitoring critical information technology projects as required by law.Determines extent of compliance with applicable law, established policies, plans, and procedures.Assists in the preparation of reports recommending improvements in information systems, program operations, and internal and other management controls.Prepares recommendations for reporting suggested changes to statutory and budgetary requirements.Performs other related duties as required.Knowledge, Skills and AbilitiesKnowledge of accounting, auditing, and other relevant professional standardsKnowledge of information technology system requirementsKnowledge of research techniquesKnowledge of laws, regulations, and other administrative requirementsSkill in the use of a personal computerAbility to collect, analyze, and interpret dataAbility to plan, organize, and coordinate work assignmentsAbility to communicate effectively, verbally and in writingAbility to handle confidential informationAbility to understand and apply rules, regulations, policies, and proceduresAbility to utilize problem-solving techniquesAbility to effectively interview individuals and organize the information obtained to reflect the logical progression of procedures performed and conclusions reachedAbility to work well as a team memberAbility to follow instructionsAbility to work within deadlinesAbility to deal tactfully, courteously, and professionally with auditeesAbility to maintain objectivityAbility to make sound judgements and decisionsMinimum QualificationsA bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in accounting and 30 semester or 45 quarterhours in excess of those required for a 4-year baccalaureate degree, meeting the educational requirements of the Florida State Board ofAccountancy for licensure as a Certified Public Accountant (one year of relevant professional experience may be substituted for the hoursin excess of those required for a 4-year baccalaureate degree if application was made prior to August 2, 1983, to the Florida State Boardof Accountancy for taking the Certified Public Accountants examination); orA master's degree from an accredited college or university in management information systems or information studies with an emphasis in information technology; orA bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in accounting, management information systems, or information studies with an emphasis in information technology and one year of relevant professional experience; orA bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in another field of study and possession of a Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA) certificate or a masters degree in business administration and one year of relevant professional experience; orPossession of a CPA certificate accepted by the Florida State Board of Accountancy.SalaryThe minimum salary for IT Auditor, the entry level classification, is $52,008.
