    RSU 24 is seeking a part-time Food Service Specialist I to join our team at our Peninsula School located in Prospect Harbor, Maine, a pre-K to Grade 5 elementary school serving approximately 80 students. Working four hours per school day, the Food Service Specialist I assists with the preparation and serving of meals. This position is fast paced and requires flexibility and knowledge of food safety and sanitation. Successful candidate should be friendly, a team player and adapt easily to change. RSU 24 offers a competitive wage and comprehensive benefit package, including health, dental, and long term disability insurance and paid time off!
    Essential duties and responsibilities (other duties may be assigned)
    • Assists in preparing and serving of all meals, after school snacks and special food related functions
    • Handles and prepares all food in accordance with the sanitary requirements and State of Maine regulations for good nutrition
    • Assist in developing menus that are nutritionally balanced, obtained from the guidelines set by the State of Maine
    • Meeting meal schedules, avoiding food waste, planning for the following day's meal, to include properly thawing out of foods
    • Ability to utilize the available time to organize and complete work within given deadlines
    • Professionally cleans equipment, work area, tables, pots and pans, knives and other cooking related tools
    • Operates the Point of Sales system to record sales to student and adult accounts
    • Demonstrates a team approach, through interaction with other employees and departments in support of students
    Education & Experience: High school diploma (or GED) and 3 years of relevant food service experience preferred.

Regional School Unit 24 serves nine communities along the Down East coast of Maine. The district encompasses picturesque coastal communities along Frenchmans Bay, Flanders Bay and the Schoodic Peninsula as well as inland communities surrounding our many ponds and lakes. Our four elementary schools house students in grades pre-K through eight. Secondary students attend Sumner Memorial High School. The district enrollment is close to 1,000 students.
