City of Johnson City is Hiring a Facilities Maintenance Technician II (HVAC) Near Johnson City, TN

The City of Johnson City Tennessee is accepting online applications for a Facilities Maintenance Technician II. The employee performs advanced and skilled work in the design, maintenance, repair, installation and alteration of municipal facilities related to building contractor, electrical, HVAC, mechanical and plumbing licensure requirements in accordance with the State of Tennessee Department of Commerce and Insurance Board of Licensing Contractor or Environmental Protection Agency (EPA); does related work as required.
The work of this class involves responsibility for performing a variety of technical and analytical tasks related to contractor, electrical, HVAC, mechanical and plumbing principles and practices. Ordinarily employees in this class are required to perform at the journeyman level, but work assignments are so varied that employees must demonstrate capabilities in several such trades. Assignments are received in the form of oral or written work orders and may be accompanied by sketches, penciled layout or blueprints. The work is performed according to general or specific instructions of a supervisor who inspects work while in progress and upon completion. The employee may supervise a small group of semiskilled or unskilled workers.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities : Meet the knowledge, skills and abilities of a Facilities Maintenance Technician position. The position requires HVAC certification by the EPA as a Type I, II, and III or Universal Technician as required by 40 CFP part 82, subpart f. For Building Contractor, Electrical, Mechanical and Plumbing, requires completion of exams and licensure as required by the State of Tennessee Department of Commence and Insurance Board for Licensing Contractors. Considerable knowledge in the design, installation, maintenance, troubleshooting and repair specific to the trade or licensure.
Acceptable Experience and Training: High school graduate or GED and four years of progressive experience related to the trade. Pre-employment physical, drug screening and background check required.
