Veterans Recovery Resources is Hiring a LPN- Primary Care Near Mobile, AL

We are hiring for a full-time LPN for our Primary Care/Family Medicine Practice.
Description of duties and responsibilities
The LPN in Primary Care is responsible for providing basic medical attention to patients and assessing their wellbeing as part of a larger medical team. Their duties include checking vital signs, recording a patient’s medical history and assisting the provider with certain procedures. Using an integrated care model the LPN can expect to see patients not only with acute and chronic physical disease processes, but also mental health and substance use disorder.
Responsibilities include:
  • Provide direct patient care within the scope of the ABN Administrative Code Nursing Standards including assessment, planning, intervention, and evaluation.
  • Performing focused physical assessments to determine the patient’s current health status and predict outcomes of treatment.
  • Conducting interviews with clients to gather information about their lifestyles, habits, and medical histories.
  • Educate patients and families about the disease process, procedures, medications and expected outcomes.
  • Answer questions and address concerns in a compassionate and professional manner.
  • Serve as a resource for non-licensed healthcare professionals regarding clinic processes and patient care.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records.
  • Schedule appointments and referrals
  • Administer medications and treatments according to provider orders or established protocols.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives to help improve the overall care provided to patients
  • Keep abreast of new developments in the field of nursing through continued education and professional development opportunities.
  • Serve on committees and work groups as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Qualification
  • Degree in Practical Nursing.
  • Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) with a current Alabama or Compact state license.
  • 1 year experience as an LPN, in primary care, mental health, detox or addiction treatment preferred.
  • BLS Certification.
  • If in recovery, the nurse must disclose prior to hiring and have two years uninterrupted abstinence.
  • Regular attendance including assigned shifts and staff meetings (80% staff meetings required to meet standards of the position)
Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Knowledge of detoxification process and withdrawal management protocols
  • Ability to assess patient needs and provide care accordingly
  • Empathetic and compassionate bedside manner
  • Ability to work well under pressure
  • Attention to detail
  • Familiarity with electronic medical records systems
  • Willingness to commit to VRR’s core organizational values (Integrity, Compassion and Respect) and operational principles (e.g., holistic, person-centered, evidence-based care).
Supervisory relationships
  • Reports directly to the Director of Nursing.
Amount of travel and any other special conditions or requirements
  • Minimal travel in Mobile and Baldwin County.
FLSA status
  • Hourly, Non-exempt
Hours per day or week
  • Full-time position at 1.0 FTE
  • M-F , 8am-5pm
