We have 12 antennas on-orbit and 20 flight deliverables occurring in 2024. Our missions include Earth Science (weather, surface deformation and change); LEO, GEO and lunar communications; synthetic aperture radar (SAR); and unique radio frequency sensors for commercial and government applications. Title:Aerospace Harnessing Technician

Position Type: Full-Time/Non-Exempt

Pay Range: $21.30-$36.26 (Hourly) (Salary to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data)

Location: Louisville, CO

About the role: We are looking Aerospace Harnessing Technician that will support one of the following programs:

  • INCUS: NASA has selected Tendeg to deliver four Ka-band deployable antennas for a new Earth science mission called Investigation of Convective Updrafts (INCUS) that will study the behavior of tropical storms and thunderstorms, including their impacts on weather and climate models. https://www.jpl.nasa.gov/news/nasa-selects-new-mission- to-study-storms-impacts-on-climate-models
  • 2-axis Gimbal Antennas: Tendeg has multiple contracts to develop, fabricate, test and deliver flight units for deployable high gain antennas from X-band to Q/V-band. These are for sensor and communication missions for LEO, MEO and lunar applications.
  • Perimeter Truss Reflectors: Tendeg has multiple contracts to deliver large aperture antennas for GEO communications, SAR, and national security.

What you'll do:

  1. Harness Assembly: Constructing electrical wiring harnesses in accordance with engineering drawings, diagrams, and specifications. This involves proficiently executing tasks such as cutting, stripping, crimping, and soldering wires. Additionally, installing connectors, backshells, and other components with precision and attention to detail is essential.

  2. Testing: Conducting thorough electrical tests and inspections on completed harness assemblies to ensure proper continuity, insulation resistance, and overall performance. If any defects or issues are identified during testing, promptly troubleshooting and repairing them to maintain quality standards and reliability.

  3. Documentation: Maintaining meticulous records of all harness assembly and installation activities. This includes documenting the parts used, test results, and any modifications or repairs performed. Ensuring compliance with internal quality standards and external regulatory requirements is a critical aspect of this responsibility.

  4. Safety: Prioritizing safety at all times by strictly adhering to established safety protocols and procedures. This includes but is not limited to, wearing appropriate personal protective equipment, following safe work practices, and promptly reporting any safety hazards or incidents.

  5. Collaboration: Working closely and effectively with cross-functional teams, including engineers, designers, and fellow technicians. Collaborating to resolve technical issues, improve assembly processes, and support the production of deployable antennas and associated products is vital for success in this role. Clear communication and a proactive approach to problem-solving are key components of effective collaboration.

Key Job Requirements:

  • 5 Years of experinece
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Vocational training, apprenticeship, or certification in electrical assembly or a related field preferred.
  • Prior experience in aerospace or electrical assembly highly desirable.
  • Familiarity with relevant regulations and standards (e.g., FAA regulations, IPC/WHMA-A-620) beneficial.
  • Electrical Skills: Proficiency in electrical assembly techniques is essential, including soldering, crimping, and wire termination. A solid understanding of electrical components, circuits, and systems is necessary to perform tasks accurately. Experience with or certification to IPC-A-620 or IPC J-STD-001 standards is highly preferable and demonstrates expertise in electrical assembly.
  • Technical Aptitude: The ability to interpret complex engineering drawings, schematics, and wiring diagrams is crucial for success in this role. Familiarity with aerospace standards and specifications related to wiring harnesses and electrical systems is advantageous and facilitates compliance with industry requirements.
  • Attention to Detail: Strong attention to detail is paramount in performing assembly, installation, and testing tasks accurately. The ability to follow instructions precisely and identify discrepancies or errors ensures the quality and reliability of harness assemblies.
  • Problem-Solving: Effective problem-solving skills are essential for troubleshooting electrical issues and implementing solutions promptly. The ability to work independently and collaboratively to resolve technical challenges contributes to the efficiency and effectiveness of the team.
  • Communication: Good verbal and written communication skills are necessary to effectively communicate with team members, engineers, and other stakeholders. The ability to document work activities and provide clear and concise reports facilitates efficient collaboration and ensures transparency in project progress.
  • Physical Fitness: Physical dexterity and stamina are required to perform tasks that may involve bending, lifting, and working in awkward positions or confined spaces. The ability to use hand and power tools safely and effectively is essential for completing assembly and installation activities.
