The Diet Aide is responsible for the preparation and service of cold food for the patients and cafeteria. He/She assembles patient trays in accordance with diet order; picks up p.m. diet changes, processes menus and maintains updated cardex in conjunction with PNA’s. This position has the responsibility for interacting with the following age groups: pediatric, adolescent through geriatric. The Diet Aide is exposed to extremes in temperature, from walk-in freezers to hot electrical equipment. He/She works with sharp objects (i.e. Knives) and hazardous cleaning agents.
Requirements :

1. Previous experience in hospital food service desirable.
2. Possesses knowledge of therapeutic diets and food service safety and sanitation standards.
3. Possesses ability to perform duties in a timely manner, and follow hospital and department policies and procedures.
4. Full command (verbal and written) of the English language required.
5. Possess the physical ability and perceptive acuity (e.g. visual, hearing) to satisfactorily perform all duties.
6. Able to lift and carry object; walk and stand on feet for extended periods of time; able to lift a minimum of 10 pounds.
