ABOUT LAWS

Founded in 1984, LAWS mission is to provide victims of domestic violence, sexual assault and child abuse with safety, hope, and empowerment services to live as survivors free from effects of violence. LAWS is Loudoun County's designated nonprofit to provide domestic violence, sexual assault, and child abuse survivors with these services and supports. All services are free, confidential, and voluntary.

LAWS supports adult, youth, and child victims through shelter, a 24/7 hotline, therapy, legal services, support groups, advocacy, and community outreach. LAWS also operates The Resourceful Woman, a thrift store benefiting LAWS services, and it runs the Loudoun Child Advocacy Center (CAC). The Loudoun CAC promotes healing for children and protective caregivers impacted by child abuse through a unified and coordinated community response, including use of a nationally accredited model for child forensic interviews. The CAC also connects families with resources as part of the CAC's coordinated service model. At the Loudoun CAC, the child's best interest is the priority.

LAWS is a 2023 finalist for Nonprofit of the Year by the Loudoun Times-Mirror.

The Senior Grants Manager's Role

Reporting directly to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO), the Senior Grants Manager is a key member of LAWS' Advancement Team. This position manages all LAWS' grant-related activities, from prospecting through final reporting, for a diverse $2M grant portfolio from federal pass-through funding to private foundation grants.

Working closely with LAWS' executive leadership and program team, the Senior Grants Manager: (1) Develops well-considered grant applications, including grant budgets; (2) helps assure that grant-funded activities align with grant objectives and requirements; and (3) drafts and submit timely, accurate reports to funders that meet all funder reporting requirements. This senior-level position also contributes to the design and execution of LAWS' advancement strategies.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Qualified candidates will have:

  • Excellent writing and budget development skills.
  • Excellent organizational and analytical thinking skills.
  • A bachelor's degree (nonprofit management, public or business administration, English, other)
  • A minimum of six (6) years experience in development or advancement roles, including four (4) years managing federal and state grants.
  • Experience managing a similar grant portfolio: $2M , multiple and complex grants, including government grants.
  • Experience and discretion in working with highly sensitive and confidential information.
  • Must work in or relocate to the VA/MD/DC/WV area

Preferred (if you do not meet all these but believe you are otherwise qualified, please apply):

  • Knowledge and understanding of trauma-informed care, dynamics of domestic violence ad sexual violence, and child development.
  • Experience and proven success in full range of fundraising and advancement activities (e.g., grants management; individual, corporate, and foundation giving; constituent relationships; capital campaigns; communication and marketing).

WORK SCHEDULE

This is a full-time position, our non-direct services team typically works between 9 am - 5 pm in Leesburg, VA. LAWS is open to a hybrid arrangement. Periodic evenings and weekends may be needed.
