YOUR ROLE

Genworth is seeking a Scrum Master who can help individual delivery teams and the enterprise improve agility through the application of Agile. You will be responsible for providing effective facilitation, leadership, and coaching to support self-organizing teams and their delivery of successful, high quality, valuable solutions via Agile frameworks, such as Scrum and Kanban. You should be driven to provide quality solutions to challenging problems. You will be called on to guide and coach existing teams, as well as to on-board new teams to an Agile framework. This will be done via conducting formal training sessions as well as role based coaching and full team coaching. In addition to working Agile delivery teams, you will be responsible for supporting the overall delivery framework, which also accommodates waterfall and iterative based teams.

What you will be doing

  • Train individual teams to apply an Agile framework and principles of agility to the benefit of the team and enterprise
  • Coach Product Owners and Development Teams in effective Product Backlog management so that they have a common understanding of what is to be delivered, why it needs to be delivered and what success looks like.
  • Coach Development Teams in self-organization, continuous improvement, cross-functionality, risk identification, dependency management, conflict resolution and software craftsmanship.
  • Work with Product Owners and Development Teams to ensure the transparency of team artifacts, including the Product Backlog, Sprint Backlog and Product Increment
  • Coach others in the organization regarding Agile practices and impacts that actions have on the team and its self-organization (i.e. managers, stakeholders, Product Managers, Program Managers, etc.)
  • Help teams continuously improve their interactions, practices and process
  • Help teams improve with facilitated conversations, metrics, feedback loops and information radiators
  • Help teams adhere to Agile processes and practices by demonstrating the benefits they bring to the team and the enterprise
  • Facilitate team and enterprise maturity assessments
  • Develop, maintain, and communicate Enterprise Agile Standards, as well as other Enterprise Level Software Development Standards. This includes ownership of how the standards map to tools.

What you bring

  • At least 3 years of experience using the Agile principals and frameworks (Scrum, Kanban, etc.) and principles of agility
  • At least 1 year experience as a Scrum Master/Agile Coach for a software development team
  • Passion for continuous learning regarding Agile, Scrum, coaching, facilitating, emotional intelligence, team dynamics, listening, etc.
  • Experience teaching and/or mentoring team(s)
  • Proven leadership skills, specifically leading by example (true leader)
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills across all levels from senior business leadership to technical resources
  • Proven organizational, prioritization, and time management skills with the ability to achieve deadlines under minimum supervision
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; able to identify areas of improvement and make sound recommendations to solve problems
  • Ability to communicate with and influence a variety of audiences including IT developers, business analysts, business partners, stakeholders, and management
  • Ability to observe business situations, recognize roadblocks and coach to remove the roadblocks
  • Experience with technology development or a strong working knowledge of the development life cycle and general programming principles
  • Certified Scrum Master

Preferred

  • 3 Years of IT Experience
  • Familiarity with the concepts of Agile Kanban
  • Familiarity with the concepts of Agile Scaling
  • Experience using an Agile tool such as Jira, Digital.ai Agility, or ServiceNow
  • Experience facilitating working sessions between different groups of stakeholders
