The Director of Operations & Programs is responsible for leading and executing various programs across ASU Research Enterprise (ASURE). ASURE is a not-for-profit Arizona State University (ASU) affiliated applied research organization that conducts bleeding edge research and technology development for the US Department of Defense (DoD). The Director of Operations & Programs reports to the Managing Director of ASURE and is a part of ASURE’s operational leadership and provides clear and effective goals, prioritization, organization, financial management, communication, accountability, administrative and reporting procedures, customer service, business development, and managerial leadership to ensure operational efficiency. This is accomplished through a respectful, collaborative, constructive, and energetic style guided by the values and culture of the company. The Director of Operations & Programs also develops sustainable models for financial management and execution, project oversight and execution, business development, strategic initiatives, stakeholder engagement, operational continuity, and building highly effective cross-functional teams. What you'll do: Build and collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and implement plans for operations, infrastructure, systems, processes, and personnel designed to accommodate the rapid growth objectives of our organization Contribute to the organizational compliance with all security policies and procedures Coordinate with leaders for staffing needs and agile staffing solutions Oversee Operations to ensure priorities are followed, tasks are delivered on time, processes and policies are organized, published, and followed, and people are highly effective Manage all facets of ASURE’s finances (payroll, accounts payable/receivable, compliance, etc.) Advise the Managing Director on financial strategy and execute annual budgets, ensure accountability, strive for fiscal self-sufficiency, conduct audits, and service invoices Quantify profitability, cash flow and other metrics that support the business goals and objectives of ASURE; and ensure all internal and external processes are measured Provide timely, accurate and complete reports on ASURE’s financial condition Oversee projects to ensure priorities are followed, tasks are delivered on time, processes are organized, published, and followed, and people are highly effective Primary responsibility for project success and growth Contribute to and manage contracts with industry, the government, and ASU Directly interface with university and government customers / contract leads Oversee various program budgets and schedules to meet all milestones/deadlines May have supervisory responsibilities which include all aspects of the employee life cycle Business development within current customer base and/or for new customers Foster a success-oriented, accountable environment across the organization Positively represent ASURE with customers, stakeholders, and business partners Other duties as assigned to ensure the success of the organization What you'll need: Ability to maintain a high degree of confidentiality and responsibility regarding information related to ASURE and its business affiliates Possess experience in U.S. Government finance, contracting, defense services, and defense-related R&D environments Financial management of complex programs and/or government contracts Attention to detail and thoroughness in completing assigned duties Highly organized and able to handle multiple projects Adept at navigating complex environments with evolving priorities and communication plans Project management experience and familiarity with various project management tools Entrepreneurial expertise, including accelerator-like programs Demonstrated proficiency in implementing principles, processes and tools that enhance delivery of innovation and the effectiveness of innovative teams Collaborative style, combined with the ability and desire to work in a team-based environment Strong and collegial interpersonal skills and an ability to communicate effectively in person, in writing, virtually, and by phone Ability to work both independently and as part of a team Problem solver who can take initiative and set priorities while being flexible Team-oriented strategist able to effectively manage complex situations involving numerous and sometimes competing constituencies Mastery in MS Office (Word, PPT, Xcel) An advocate’s belief in the vision of ASU as the New American University Relevant qualifications: Bachelor's Degree with emphasis in engineering/science/business or equivalent experience A minimum of 8 years of program/project management experience in research and development organizations in DoD or universities or industry. US Citizenship is required. Current Top Secret clearance is highly desired. Experience in DoD contracting and execution in government/university/industry environments. Preferred education and experience: Master’s or Phd degree in engineering/science/business 10 years of experience in DoD contracting and execution in government/university/industry environments Preferred skills and abilities: PMP certification Benefits: Hybrid work schedule.
