Description

We are actively hiring for an Assistant/Associate NGS scientist position. In this position, you will join the Department of Bioinformatics and AI in Simcere BIC, supporting early drug discovery and other R&D teams for novel cancer drug development for cancer and autoimmune diseases. The responsibilities include but are not limited to: (1) Data searching, acquiring and mining; (2) Data table cleaning, wrangling, format conversion and transformation; (3) NGS sample preparation and sequencing library construction. (4) actively communicate and help other lab scientists in simple daily data query and other light-weighted bioinformatic analysis tasks in timely manner, (5) Visualize data properly with clear and detailed annotation. (6) Explain results to non-bioinformatician colleagues in efficient way, help supported scientists accurately and efficiently understand analysis results. (7) Assist light-weighted bench works when needed. (8) Assist on novel bioinformatics/AI platform testing and model optimization. (9) Weekly meeting and report to department Director/Head. (10) Timely data archive and backup. 

Requirements

Degree in bioinformatics, molecular biology, or related fields (oncology or immunology), with 2 years of experience in biology research in academia or industry setting. Title is based on experiences and capabilities.

Must be familiar with using R and/or Python and relative packages for data acquiring and wrangling, rich experience in data table/matrix format conversion and transformation, able to do quick coding for data table manipulation such as selecting, filtering, sorting, cleaning, conditional merging, pivot table conversion, grouping, summarizing, aligning.

Must have basic knowledge in oncology, immuno-oncology, immunology, or related fields.

Must have basic knowledge in biostatistics.

[Highly Desirable] Good at data visualization, able to choose proper data graph type and relative R/Python packages for figure plotting.

Familiar with common public bioinformatic databases, tools and other resources. Able to choose correct tool and approach for corresponding tasks.

Familiar with standard analytic pipelines for RNA-seq, scRNA-seq, CRISPR screening and/or other NGS techniques. Rich experience in NGS sample preparation and library construction.

[Highly Desirable] Practical experience in PCR, lentivirus packaging/ infection, CRISPR-KO or similar works.

[Highly Desirable] Familiar with Linux environment, cloud computing and/or have basic knowledge about computer hardware specifications and requirements.

[Highly Desirable] Good coding practices, write codes with good readability and detailed annotation. Able to use markdown.

Must have scientific rigor in work.

Ability to adapt to a fast-paced work environment within the industry and complete assigned tasks in a timely manner.

[Highly Desirable] Good communication skills, able to explain bioinformatics analysis procedure and results in plain language to non-bioinformatician colleagues.

Able to do code debug, troubleshooting and optimization.

[Highly Desirable] Can independently follow up and learn new bioinformatic tools and actively optimize work procedure.
