We are seeking a Director of Sales who will be primarily responsible for, but not limited to, developing and managing all sales efforts for the hotel to include room sales, meeting/conference room and catering sales. This position is accountable for the successes of the Sales Department.

The Director of Sales will utilize his/her skills to plan and implement sales, marketing and product development plans to promote the hotel and foster business relationships to maximize revenue profits. The candidate will provide training, coaching and counseling as well as progressive discipline, and resolve guest and team member issues and assuring satisfaction.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Conduct sales calls and follow up on leads related to sales business.
  • Meet with clients and conduct sales tours.
  • Maintain accurate sales files, production reports and trace system for all assigned accounts.
  • Complete sales efforts outlined in the marketing plan.
  • Complete weekly sales plan, prospecting activities and follow-up reports
  • Prepare expense reports when applicable.
  • Attend all mandatory meetings and mandatory hotel functions.
  • Complete all required reports, records and/or logs.
  • Develop marketing plan, Quarterly Action Plans and Key Account Action Plan
  • Develop and implements strategic marketing plans and sales plans and forecasts to achieve corporate objectives for products and services.
  • Solicit and develop new accounts through networking and competitive search.
  • Plans and oversees advertising and promotion activities including print, online, electronic media, and direct mail.
  • Develops and recommends product positioning, packaging, and pricing strategy to produce the highest possible long-term market share.
  • Ensures effective control of marketing results and takes corrective action to guarantee that achievement of marketing objectives falls within designated budgets.
  • Oversees and evaluates market research and adjusts marketing strategy to meet changing market and competitive conditions.
  • Monitors competitor products and sales activities.
  • Manage Sales Department operating budget
  • Qualify sales leads and prospects from cold calls, telemarketing, newspapers, referrals, sales blitz, Brand Sales Leads, National Sales Leads, CVB and other sources.
  • Cultivate sales leads.
  • Negotiate and close sales deals.
  • Book hotel rooms resulting in quality and profitable business.
  • Establish and maintain contact with assigned accounts and target accounts.
  • Solicit guest feedback and relay information to DOS to all opportunities for improvement.
  • Effectively communicate all pertinent information to all team members
  • Prepare and conduct team member evaluations.
  • Delegate responsibility effectively to Supervisors and team members
  • Schedule according to the needs of the operation, ensuring proper coverage.
  • Maintain active involvement in all markets, industry organizations/associations and the community.
Required Skills

  • What you need to be successful as Director of Sales
  • 3-5 years hotel sales experience in supervisory or management capacity.
  • Leadership, time management and Problem-solving skills.
  • Brand experience preferred.
  • Microsoft Word and Excel experience preferred.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other team members
