Position Title : CNC Machinist / Operator
Department : Machine Shop
Location : Fenton, MO
Reports To : Production Supervisor - Machine Shop
Classification : Hourly - Non-Exempt
Typical Hours : 2nd Shift - (Monday - Thursday 3 : 15pm - 1 : 15am), (Monday - Friday 3 : 15pm - 12 : 15am), or (Monday - Thursday 3 : 15pm - 11 : 15pm and Friday 9 : 00am - 5 : 00pm)
Position Summary :
CNC Machinist / Operator position responsible for machining of components using a variety of CNC lathes and mills while following the documented procedures, including safety procedures.
Will be responsible for the quality of parts produced. Assists in the instruction of set-up, operators, and operator trainees.
Diagnose, troubleshoot and make adjustments. May be assigned to remove and / or replace worn or defective parts. Must have the fundamental tools to safely and effectively perform the job.
PPE such as safety glasses, safety shoes, and hearing protection are required at all times.
Essential Job Duties :
Must be able to set up, operate and adjust a variety of machines
Requires the use of precision measuring devices
Must be able to work from drawings with minimum instruction and supervision
Understanding of G and M Codes
Troubleshoot machines, set speeds, and feeds for proper materials and do minor repairs as needed
Responsible for the quality of parts produced
Required Experience / Skills :
Strong math skills and ability to read blueprints, work instructions, SOP's, and other technical information in English.
Must be able to lift 35lbs. on a regular basis.
Must be able to monitor gauges, dials, and other indicators to be sure the machine is working properly and use proper precision measuring devices.
Attention to detail and ability to handle multiple priorities.
Must be self-directed and take initiative to learn new skills relating to the maintenance of the machine.
Desired Experience / Skills :
2-3 years CNC experience
Possess a hands-on style with strong mechanical aptitude
Familiarity with HAAS, Okuma, and / or MAZAK CNC machine centers
Experience with CNC lathes, Davenport, or ACME desired.
Work Environment
Will be exposed to work near moving mechanical parts, oils, and chemicals in a loud manufacturing environment. Will be standing on concrete the entire shift.
