Description

Gorman's Furniture has immediate openings for Inside Furniture Prep Technicians . This position is responsible for repairing, adjusting, and resolving issues with case goods and upholstery prior to delivery to customer's home or businesses. Previous experience repairing furniture is necessary. Familiarity with furniture touch up, upholstery, and leather repair are parts of the job. Ability to strip and refinish case goods is required. The occasional repair of drywall and blend painting of customer walls is part of the job as well. The position will entail prepping approximately 50 pieces per day and the company will supply touch up products and materials necessary for the completion of the job. Applicants should have their own tools for the completion of any services.

Applicants will be required to pass a background screening, a pre-employment physical and drug screen.

Work days are Tuesday-Saturday

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Must possess a valid Michigan Chauffeur's License

Must have 2 years successful driving experience without major infractions.

Experience with the operation of a cargo van

Ability to meet all DOT requirements

Ability to estimate delivery times bases on customer location, stop load, and assembly requirements

Ability to safely load furniture for secure transport

Ability to handle paperwork and keep track of delivery paperwork, trip sheets and other reports as needed

Ability to safely lift and maneuver furniture in excess of 100 pounds

Ability to maintain polite, respectful demeanor and good customer relations in spite of possible customer dissatisfaction.

Ability to problem solve for difficult deliveries and delivery issues

$24 and up based on experience
