Job Summary:

The Lead Stainer oversees the staining team and ensures the highest quality of workmanship in the maintenance and preservation of log homes. This position involves leadership, advanced technical skills, and customer interaction. This is a full-time year-round position.

Responsibilities:

Supervise a team of Stainers and Apprentices in the field.

Coordinate projects with the project manager, including scheduling, resource allocation, and ensuring all required materials are on site.

Ensure compliance with safety standards and regulatory requirements.

Communicate with the project manager about project specifications and status

Troubleshoot and resolve complex issues related to stain application and surface preparation

Train and mentor new team members

Maintain a clean and organized job site

Document processes and maintain records of work performed

In the off-season, assisting in developing a training program for Apprentices and Stainers

Use the off-season to enhance skills through professional courses or training. This could include advanced training in wood preservation, project management, or leadership development.

Help with marketing efforts, such as social media management, updating the company website, or creating promotional materials.

Participate in local or regional trade shows and networking events to promote your services, meet potential clients, and establish relationships with suppliers and other contractors.

Oversee the maintenance and repair of equipment used during the busy season. This ensures everything is in top condition and can help avoid delays or equipment failures when operations resume.

Qualifications:

3 years of experience in staining

Strong leadership and communication skills

Proficiency in project management and team coordination

Knowledge of different types of wood, stain types, and appropriate care strategies

Understanding of hand tools and equipment

Able to work outside in all weather conditions

Able to lift 50lbs

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $22.00 - $25.00 per hour

Expected hours: 30 – 50 per week
