Comic Book Resources is Hiring a Remote Movie & Television Editor

Freelance | Remote Position

 

Our editorial team is looking for an experienced Editor to join us on our Movies & TV team.

CBR is the oldest and most respected comic book culture website in the world. We are the leading resource for coverage on comic books, movies and TV, anime, and nearly every other kind of fandom. You’ll be working with the CBR team as our leading Movies & TV guru.

CBR offers a unique opportunity for team members to grow and connect with other freelancers from all over the world. As a Movies & TV Editor for CBR, you will work with a dedicated remote editorial team to create original and informative articles that our discriminating audience demands, with the eye-catching aesthetic they crave.

 

Job Responsibilities:

● Quota of 45 edits/per week

○ 9 edits/per day

○ Responsible for editing Lists, Features, and Resources

● Use the editorial dashboard to review writers’ output and performance

● Daily review of analytics via various software and Google reporting in order to identify

performance trends

● Identify opportunities for timely, relevant, and engaging articles to feature on CBR.com

● Update your editing processes in alignment with CBR’s editorial best practices

● Track session/article to understand the effectiveness of reach

● Attend weekly meetings and workshops designed to distill important information down to

editors

● Work closely with the Movies & TV Lead Editor to carve out and grow focused beats for CBR

 

Editing:

● Ensure output expectations are met both daily and weekly, prioritizing the publishing

calendar’s needs

● Ensure all published content is policy compliant and of the highest editorial standard

● Assign topics and headlines to writers; field pitches and only publish what is best for website

growth

● Maintain brand voice and tone; reject any salacious or non-compliant content

● Field content for plagiarism and remove writers based on a zero-tolerance policy

● Field content for AI (ChatGPT, etc.) and remove all content/contributors on a zero-tolerance

policy

SEO:

● Abide by all linking and tagging strategies in order to maintain site health and architecture

● Implement content elements within CMS in accordance with writing guides in order to

optimize on-page experiences and create high level content value for readers

● Contribute to keyword research and analysis; curate content based on varying intents and

sources

 

General:

● Manage a large team of freelance writers, running your own team channel on Slack, Asana

board, and sending out feedback when necessary

● Develop talent on an ongoing basis

● Coordinate with PR when required

● Be ready and available for increased responsibilities over time

● Be available for editorial meetings and content reviews/audits

What we are looking for:

● Excellent command of the English language

● Strong research skills

● Deep familiarity with movies & TV shows, and a genuine passion for the medium

● Keeping up to date with major franchises (Star Wars, Star Trek, Disney, MCU/DCU,

dramas, Lord of the Rings, House of the Dragon), genre series (Sci-Fi, procedurals,

westerns, action movies), and nostalgic shows & movies (Power Rangers, sitcoms

like Seinfeld, The Office, The Big Bang Theory)

● A pop-culture enthusiast dedicated to staying up-to-date with the latest movie and television

news and rumors

● Relevant experience in writing or editing

● High attention to detail to spot spelling or grammatical errors
