About Reside Living:

Reside Living is a growing Chicago property management company that offers its employees an open environment, opportunities for fun, and room to grow. Our portfolio is 3,000 apartments strong and expanding.

We want our residents to love where they live, so our apartments are fresh, modern, redesigned spaces with open layouts. We're also committed to environmentally responsible living; we leverage green solutions and technology to achieve this goal.

We believe in delivering an exceptional customer experience throughout Chicago's best neighborhoods and work hard to overdeliver on this goal. Our organization is committed to diversity and inclusion, where everyone can thrive.

About the Role:

Join Reside Living, where we transcend traditional property maintenance to enhance living environments. As our Building Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring our properties excel not only in functionality but also in comfort and safety. This position is ideal for a proactive individual who excels in a technical environment, ready to manage both routine and unexpected maintenance challenges. Collaborating closely with the Property Manager, you will anticipate and address issues before they arise, aiming to not only meet but exceed resident expectations.

Your Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement comprehensive maintenance strategies across various disciplines including electrical systems, plumbing, HVAC, and carpentry to maintain and elevate our service standards.
  • Lead advanced preventative maintenance initiatives to minimize downtime and maintain rigorous safety protocols.
  • Respond promptly to service requests and emergency situations, providing outstanding service that distinguishes our property management.
  • Perform thorough inspections and maintain detailed documentation to proactively manage maintenance schedules, budgeting, and inventory.
  • Mentor and lead a team dedicated to maintenance excellence, promoting a culture of safety, precision, and high performance.
  • Coordinate effectively with external contractors and vendors to ensure services align with our strategic goals.
  • Manage apartment turnovers with precision, ensuring each unit is impeccably prepared for new residents.
  • Keep abreast of the latest industry innovations, integrating new technologies and sustainable practices to enhance operational efficiency.

What You Bring to the Team:

  • A strong commitment to quality with meticulous attention to detail and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to forge positive relationships with residents, team members, and external partners.
  • Technological proficiency, with a robust understanding of building systems and the ability to manage various tools and equipment safely.
  • Flexibility to participate in our on-call rotation for emergencies and adapt to the changing needs of our properties.
  • A solid educational foundation with at least a high school diploma and EPA Certification, or willingness to obtain certification within 90 days.
  • A minimum of 5-7 years of experience in building maintenance or a related field, demonstrating expertise in mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems.
