Job Overview:
The Landscape Technician will be responsible for assisting with the designing, installing, and maintaining outdoor spaces for our members to enjoy. Primary duties will include planting flowers and other greenery, pruning, mowing, mulching, edging, fertilizing, testing soil, aerating, and performing general maintenance tasks. An ideal candidate will have a strong attention to detail, landscaping knowledge, and the ability to work independently or as part of a team.
Duties:
- Planting, mulching, pruning, and general maintenance of flowerbeds and plantings
- Plant flowers, trees, and other greenery to enhance the overall aesthetics
- Apply fertilizers, pesticides, and other chemicals as needed, maintain landscape design features, remove weeds/dead plant material and overseeing repairs as needed
- Basic math skills associated with accurately measuring and mixing pesticides, as well as calibrating spreaders to directed application rates
- Monitor and adjust irrigation systems to ensure proper watering of plants
- Follow company and industry standards for landscape installation
- Loads and unloads product and equipment from trucks and trailers manually or using a skid loader
Qualifications:
- At least three years’ experience in landscape maintenance preferred
- Highly motivated with very high level of attention to detail
- Strong communication skills, able to lead small groups when needed
- Ability to identify and diagnose plant health issues
- Pesticide certification in Michigan or able to obtain certification after hire
Work Environment and Physical Demands
- Ability to lift 50 pounds independently and handle the physical demands of the job, including standing, bending, pulling, and climbing
- This work is performed in an outdoor environment and subject to weather fluctuations
