Youth Peer Specialist (YPS) is a person in recovery from a substance use or mental health disorder who provides one on one peer support services, serves as a peer advocate and provides individuals and/or families with information and linkage to additional services to meet the needs of the individual and/or family. YPS provides support to youth and young adults in a variety of settings. YPS performs a wide range of tasks to support individuals and/or families in living their own lives and directing their own recovery and wellness process. The YPS will model competency in recovery and wellness.
Key Responsibilities
Encourage the participant to participate in the Federation of Families, Youth MOVE, Wellness Center workshops and/or support groups.
Encourage the participant to engage in advocacy efforts and community meetings.
Must have a high school diploma or GED.
Must be able to pass a level 2 clearance, have transportation and a valid Florida driver’s license.
