Overview

REAL ALLOY is the market leader in third-party aluminum recycling and specification alloy production. Headquartered in Cleveland, Ohio, we have 17 plants strategically located across the United States, Mexico, and Canada. We convert aluminum scrap and by-products into reusable aluminum metal for a growing number of applications across various industries. We are ideally positioned to respond to the needs of an increasingly recycling-conscious world. Advanced technologies enable us to process a large variety of scrap and dross and reduce the amount of residual waste from aluminum manufacturing that would otherwise end up as landfill.

Purpose of the role

The purpose of the Purchasing Agent I is to efficiently purchase facility supplies and services by issuing purchase orders, entering timely receipts into Oracle, manage account payables for non-metals invoicing, maintain all AP, MVP and purchasing records according to internal audit guidelines. Manage plant’s non-metal inventory. This role will also provide administrative support for the MVP system and to the Plant Controller, Maintenance Manager and HSE.

Core Accountabilities

  1. Prepare all non-metal purchase orders.
  2. Receiving of all non-metal items.
  3. Process all non-metal invoices and send to AP.
  4. File invoice package (invoice, PO, receiving BOL)
  5. Aid in forecasting and tracking of plant spending.
  6. Assist in audit compliance.
  7. Assist the maintenance manager with MVP, and tracking of non-metal inventory.
  8. Order parts as directed.
  9. Act as the initial contact for vendor, bring in maintenance supervision as needed or requested.
  10. Go and get parts from local suppliers as needed.
  11. Attending maintenance, safety and related meetings.
  12. Manage inventory of non-metal parts and supplies on shop floor. Locate and tag all critical spare items. Maintain Critical Spare Inventory List.
  13. Conduct monthly critical spare meetings.
  14. Various other tasks and responsibilities as assigned.

Requirements

HS Diploma or equivalent business experience is a minimum requirement.

One or two years of clerical accounting preferred.

Proven ability to develop, implement and manage systems and procedures.

Must possess strong interpersonal, communication and team leadership skills.

Strong decision making, analytical skills and proven ability to work cross-functionally.

Proficient in Microsoft Office Excel required.

Oracle experience considered a plus.

Highly motivated, goal oriented, ethical, and challenge driven.

Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

Physical Demands

Requires flexible hours and frequent keyboarding and sitting at computer terminals. Must be able to lift or move items up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities include close, distance, color and peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

Work Environment

Employees will be in an office near the critical spare cage for ease of inventory control. Since located in the plant, employees will be required to go out on the shop floor as needed and therefore will need to wear the appropriate PPE at all times. The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.
