Job Description
PKF Texas is seeking qualified candidates for a 10-week Spring/Summer Tax Internship. After thorough training, interns will work under the supervision of Senior Accountants, gaining critical on-the-job experience by fulfilling the same duties as those of a staff accountant. Interns will also benefit from a Buddy/Coach Program designed to allow for seamless integration into firm culture and intern development.
Candidates seeking internships are expected to be in the process of obtaining a Masters/PPA degree in Accounting and planning to pass the CPA examination. They must also demonstrate excellent communication skills, integrity, maturity, dependability, a positive attitude, and enthusiasm in performance of his/her abilities.

Job Summary

Those at the Intern level are entry-level employees who are interested in pursuing a career in professional services, in the field of tax. During this time, the Intern needs to focus on developing skills, building their technical skill base, understanding and executing diligent client service, and getting oriented to the Firm’s practices, policies, and culture. Work is performed under close supervision. Responsibilities increase with demonstrated skill. The Intern must be able to work regular hours and overtime hours as required by their supervisor.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Proactively demonstrates a willingness to learn and attain greater knowledge on a continual basis; looks to build technical skill base.
  2. Grasps concepts quickly and demonstrates knowledge of basic technical skills, as well as related knowledge of necessary systems and procedures.
  3. Makes well-thought-out decisions and considers all facts prior to making final conclusions.
  4. Asks appropriate questions and requests supervision when in need of assistance. Keeps management apprised of the status of the project.
  5. Demonstrates knowledge through effective communications; seeks to continuously develop verbal and written communication skills.
  6. Follow regulations and professional ethics standards bodies appropriate to discipline.
  7. Develops proficiency in use of all technology necessary to performance execution.
  8. Understands basics of client environment in context of any client project.
  9. Responds timely and accurately to internal team and client requests.
  10. Performs thorough self-review of all work prior to submission to supervisor.
  11. Positively represents and actively promotes the Firm in their daily interaction with clients and others.
  12. Develops efficient work habits to work accurately, efficiently, and with organization and detail-orientation.
  13. Seeks opportunities to participate in mentoring, recruiting, retention and team-building activities.
  14. Conducts oneself professionally and shows respect to others at all times; maintains poise under pressure, especially during stressful times and during peak periods of client engagement activity.
  15. Develops and establishes rapport with fellow employees.
  16. Proactively seeks knowledge, new tasks and responsibilities.
  17. Cooperative and responsive to training, supervision and constructive feedback.
  18. Maintains appropriate compliance with all Firm wide and local office policies and procedures.
