Olelo Community Media is Hiring a Media Training Specialist Near Honolulu, HI

Olelo Community Media is Oahu’s nonprofit Public, Education, and Government (PEG) access provider, created to empower community voices. The specific and primary purpose of Olelo is to promote the creation, production, and cable casting of programs by, for, and to Hawai’i. Such programs will be aimed at preserving, developing, and enhancing the diversity of thought, culture, and heritage within Hawai’i. Through these activities, Olelo will facilitate lifelong learning and the community’s participation in the democratic
process.
Olelo seeks candidates to fill one (1) full-time Media Training Specialist position based out of our main office building in Mapunapuna. The Media Training Specialist is responsible for working with diverse members of the community to help them acquire foundational skills in video production, editing, and/or digital animation to create impactful stores in today's media-rich world. From elementary students to Kupuna and everyone in between, training is an essential part of what Olelo provides to schools, educators, youth programs, and organizations with an emphasis on workforce development and project-based learning.
The Media Training Specialist must be able to teach classes based on professional expertise in creative media, media communications, and/or animation. A Media Training Specialist must be able to learn new equipment or skills and bring their knowledge to the classroom for students of all skill levels. They are also expected to assist the Training Manager in the designing, planning, and implementing of education programs, curriculum, policies, and procedures for staff, client. The trainer plays a vital role in helping volunteers as well as to help clients understand the value of PEG Access and equip them with the technical and aesthetic skills that will enable them to produce high-quality, non-commercial programs successfully. Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to, those lists below, and other inherent responsibilities associated with such a position.
