The National Service Office is the central operational engine for two evidence-based programs: Nurse-Family Partnership and Child First. In 2020, what was formerly the National Service Office solely for Nurse-Family Partnership united with Child First, a merger empowering two proven models to share complementary expertise, infrastructure and integrated services. Position Description

The Director, Health Equity is a collaborative leader dedicated to leading and enhancing our commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, anti-oppression work (IDEA). This individual will be tasked with working cross-functionally across various departments, including Data and Operations, to gather internal inputs and inform our strategy based on our business model and future initiatives. A key aspect of this role involves strong collaboration with internal DEI efforts and spearheading community-based external efforts that drive health equity. The Director will be responsible for developing, implementing, and monitoring programs and strategies that promote health equity and address disparities within the communities we serve. This person must also have excellent interpersonal and collaboration skills as they are required to manage multiple internal and external relationships and collaborating with multiple multi-disciplinary, diverse teams. Individual must have excellent project management skills managing the multiple deliverables of key grants and ensuring timely delivery. You will come with an advanced analysis of diversity, equity, and inclusion, and practical experience related to what it takes to design and roll-out effective DEI strategies, programs, and performance targets.

This position is remote and can be located anywhere in the United States.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic thought partnership to the executive committee in establishing strategies, goals, priorities, budget, and metrics for advancing efforts to embed IDEA in all we do, including periodic presentations to executives and board members
  • Responsible for developing and maintaining the department's budget.
  • Work collaboratively and cross-departmentally to solicit input and partnership on the implementation of IDEA goals and priorities, in ways that build upon programs and infrastructure that are already in place
  • Management and alignment of efforts across external consultants, staff, and committees inside the organization that are each contributing to IDEA goals and priorities
  • Project management and oversight on projects pertaining to updating program models, trainings, and frameworks for the purpose of further embedding equity, including cultural consciousness and DEI trainings and frameworks for providers
  • Facilitating the Health Equity Committee, including setting agendas for meetings, engaging members in discussion/soliciting input, and supporting tasks between meetings to ensure efficiency and effectiveness; and participating in other committees as necessary and appropriate
  • Participation in other department meetings and committees across the organization to provide IDEA-related expertise, insights, and recommendations
  • Serve as a thought partner with peers leading data and evaluation to support implementation of commitments for greater disaggregation of data in data collection and providing insights on metrics to track for continuous learning and improvement
  • Create regular communications and messaging related to IDEA work to NSO staff and network organization partners to keep them apprised of work underway and ways to be involved
  • Partner with philanthropy on funding opportunities, funder reporting, and other efforts to sustain and grow IDEA-related funding and work
  • Leverage strategic partnerships to advance the NSO’s visibility and elevate position in the marketplace as a leader making meaningful commitments and progress towards health equity
  • Other duties as assigned


Knowledge, Skills & Experience

  • Minimum 8 years’ experience in managing large-scale projects
  • Minimum 8 years’ experience in presenting to large and small groups
  • Minimum 8 years’ experience in working with diverse populations
  • Proficiency in project management tools such as Team Gantt and Excel
  • Proficiency in data and reporting
  • Related job experience:
  • Minimum 10 years in nonprofit management, health equity strategy, community organizing, advocacy, or other related fields
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience designing and implementing strategies related to Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI)
  • Minimum 8 years’ experience people and program management
  • Minimum 8 years’ experience in budget management
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Deep understanding of industry standards, best practices and trends related to diversity, equity, and inclusion work inside of organizations.
  • Demonstrated strong presentation skills with ability to communicate and influence at all levels of the organization.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications


Supervisory Responsibilities

This position reports to the Chief Equity Officer and may have up 1 direct report.


Salary

  • Salary is determined based on experience and skill set. Geographical adjustments may be considered.
  • Range: $105,000 – $167,000/year
