The Project

Lives Eliminated, Dreams Illuminated (LEDI) is a multimedia art exhibition that seeks to reimagine the lives of young girls whose lives were lost in the holocaust. The LEDI project uses art as a vehicle for teaching the holocaust in a way that fosters human connection and empathy, while teaching students how to fight oppression and create sustained impact.

The Role

As the Education Coordinator for the LEDI project at Museum of Science and History (MOSH), your role is pivotal in connecting to schools in Jacksonville to come and see our art exhibition and ensuring successful implementation of program curriculum. Your goal is to facilitate relationships with Jacksonville schools and programs and linking them to the MOSH museum to ensure the LEDI experience and curriculum is accessible to students across Jacksonville. You will also be responsible for learning the LEDI curriculum, leading programs with students, and helping support the teaching of the curriculum to other educators/docents.

Your Responsibilities

● Community Outreach: Actively engage with the local school districts and systems and local organizations in Jacksonville to raise awareness of the LEDI project and its educational objectives. This may involve organizing community events that can showcase LEDI, participating in local forums or conferences, and collaborating with other organizations that share similar goals.

● Curriculum Familiarization: Familiarize yourself with the LEDI curriculum, its objectives, content, and methodologies. Understanding the curriculum inside-out will empower you to effectively communicate its value to stakeholders and effectively deliver it to students.

● Program Coordination: Coordinate school field trips to the LEDI exhibition at MOSH. Schedule and Coordinate public school and non public field trips to visit LEDI at MOSH. Communicate with teachers and administrators to answer clarifying questions before the field trip. Manage logistical details such as transportation and lunch arrangements. Create a seamless and enriching experience for students, fostering a love for learning and exploration through an organized and engaging visit. .

● Program Leadership: Lead programs and workshops with students, utilizing the LEDI curriculum to facilitate meaningful learning experiences. These sessions should be interactive, engaging, and sensitive to the subject matter, fostering empathy and critical thinking among participants.

● Strong Communication and Interpersonal Skills: You can effectively communicate with a diverse range of individuals to coordinate programs effectively.

● Experience as an Educator: You understand and effectively implement curriculum, adapt it to different educational settings, and facilitate engaging learning experiences for students.

● Organizational and Project Management Skills: You are able to coordinate programs, manage resources, and oversee multiple projects simultaneously.

● Empathy and Patience : You are sensitive to different perspectives and patient in understanding the challenges of teaching antisemitism to students in the current political climate. You create a safe and inclusive learning environment where difficult topics can be discussed with respect and understanding is crucial.

● Flexibility and Adaptability: You are able to adapt to changing circumstances, navigate challenges in and outside of a learning environment, and respond creatively to new opportunities that arise for LEDI. You are willing to adjust your approach as needed to achieve the goals of the LEDI project.
