Lynnhurst Congregational UCC is Hiring a Director of Community Engagement and Office Management Near Minneapolis, MN

Director of Community Engagement and Office Management

Lynnhurst Congregational United Church of Christ (Lynnhurst UCC) is a progressive Christian community fueled by a deep and open faith, a passion for justice, and a desire to create an environment that is welcoming to all.

Historically, Lynnhurst UCC has built on a foundation of programming for children and youth. The Covid era and its aftermath have turned attracting families with young children to church much more challenging. Recognizing the challenges, we are creating a new role with a focus on community engagement to spur new growth. By leveraging the opportunity to combine this with our current need to fill an open position of part-time Communication and Office Management, we are able to create a position with an expectation of 32 hours per week with benefits.

The Role:

Working with the minister and Lynnhurst UCC leadership, the role will:

  • Lead engagement with the community in and around Lynnhurst UCC
  • Create and lead initiatives to both understand community needs and create interactions that lead to greater connection between Lynnhurst UCC and the community.
  • Where any of the following groups are deemed to be favorable for deeper engagement, the Director of Community Engagement will work with the support of the Christian Education team to develop, coordinate and support: children and youth programing, activities for middle and high school youth, intergenerational events for families, activities for other groups in the community where an appropriate opportunity exists.
  • Lead promotion and recruitment initiatives to grow attendance for programming.
  • Perform communications and office management tasks.

The role of Director of Community Engagement will report directly to the Pastor.

Work expectations, compensation and benefits:

The position is for 12 months, with a target of working 32 hours per week including Sunday mornings.

  • Pay will be salaried and payable biweekly. The pay range is expected to be between $25-$35 per hour based on qualifications and experience.
  • One week of leave will be earned with each 3 months of service, with the ability to carry forward 5 weeks of earned, unused leave at any point in time.

The position will be reviewed after 12 months to determine if there are results, or an outlook indicating future results, that are leading to successful growth and/or mission that Lynnhurst UCC determines is consistent with continuing the community engagement portion of the position.

  • If Lynnhurst UCC decides to continue the community engagement portion of the position, the work agreement will be renewed for another one year period, with any compensation or benefit adjustments made at that time based on input from a formal performance evaluation conducted by the position supervisor and a representative of the Christian Education committee.
  • If Lynnhurst UCC decides not to continue the community engagement portion of the position, the role will be scaled back to a part-time Communications and Office Management role targeted to more limited hours and an appropriate hourly pay rate.
