Larry M. Jacobs and Associates, Inc. is Hiring a Construction Materials Testing Technician Near Pensacola, FL

We are currently seeking an entry-level Construction Materials Testing Technician. A testing technician is responsible for in-the-field testing of concrete, soils, and other construction materials. No experience is required, however, we are looking for a reliable motivated individual with a willingness to work hard and learn.

LMJ is the only locally operated and longest serving geotechnical firm in our area and has successfully completed over 7,000 projects in our local community. The candidate will use a company-provided vehicle to travel to sites in the area. We will provide on the job training and future construction materials testing certification possibilities.

Job Description:

  • Observing and documenting field activities.
  • Sampling, testing, and inspecting soils, aggregates, concrete, grout, masonry, and asphalt.
  • Obtaining samples of concrete from concrete trucks, molding test specimens, and performing slump and air tests.
  • Retrieving, stripping, labeling, sorting, and performing strength testing on concrete test specimens.
  • Performing soil density testing in the field using a nuclear gauge and/or sand cone.
  • Obtain and test proctor and LBR samples.
  • Vibration monitoring for pile driving and documenting auger cast operations.
  • Interacting and communicating daily with contractors, technicians, and project managers.
  • Follow all company safety and OSHA procedures and policies.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds throughout the daily shift.
  • Willing to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
  • Must be able to pass a drug screen and background check.
  • Must have a valid Florida driver's license and a clean driving record.

Job Type: Full-time (Monday through Friday, some Saturdays required on a per-project basis.)

Salary: Hourly pay rate will be based on related experience.

Location: Based out of Pensacola, Florida.
