Lane County Government is Hiring an Abuse Investigator - Developmental Disabilities Near Eugene, OR

About the Position

This position serves as the designee for Oregon Department of Human Services (ODHS) and the Office of Training, Investigations and Safety (OTIS) as an Adult Abuse Investigator.

Core functions include:

  • Screening reports of abuse regarding individuals with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities,
  • Assessing health and safety risks and the need for protective services,
  • Determining if abuse reports meet criteria for investigation,
  • Conducting in-depth/sensitive investigations,
  • Forensic interviewing,
  • Field-based evidence & information gathering,
  • Preparing comprehensive written reports,
  • Testifying in administrative hearings, and
  • Significant collaboration with DDS staff and other community partners.
  • This position also involves providing training to staff and community partners.

About the Division

Lane County Developmental Disabilities Services is responsible for conducting abuse investigations for all eligible adults experiencing intellectual & developmental disabilities in Lane County.

Lane County Developmental Disabilities Services strives to provide a responsive, cooperative lifespan delivery system of support, training, care, monitoring, protection and crisis response for persons with developmental disabilities and their families. Services are designed to maximize opportunities for self-determination and self-sufficiency.

Schedule: 20 hours per week, Monday-Friday with flexibility in scheduling to be discussed at interview.

A hybrid in-person/telework schedule may be considered and/or required in accordance with business needs.

*This position is budgeted for a maximum of 1,040 hours during the fiscal year.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Training:

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in human, social, behavioral, or criminal science.

Experience:

  • Two years of human services, law enforcement, or investigative experience.
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training that will demonstrate the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying.

  • Offers of employment are contingent upon consenting to and successfully passing a drug screening test.
